Just wait till NSH strikes back in July 2015 -- Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier = all RFAs. No way the NSH franchise forgets for a second that PHI has driven them to the brink of financial ruin. Set your watch to it.

I'd love to see that, but I doubt they have any money left.

It's not even about getting the other team's player at this point. It's just about Diddle-ing with their Dung.

Can't though, because once submitted, the assets are frozen until matched or accepted, so you can't send multiple offers that would require more than 1 first round pick in the same draft, its impossible.

What I was thinking you do is send a slightly overpayment to the least desirable player, if they match, they end up paying more than they wanted to, and then you go after the one you want with the big offer.

So offer Schenn the max you can with only having to give up a 2nd, then if it is matched, you submit a 7x7 for Giroux.

Segway Tours
Central Ohio Fire Museum

German Village
Wyandotte Winery

Plus don't forget that you are on the road for half of the season (and only have to visit Buffalo once).

I especially loved it how they spelled it "Segaway Tours". Facepalm

Hmm, on second thought, maybe that was intentional -- as in "Seg-away". Those clever bastards!

So you can't offer sheet more than one player on a team at a time? There's gotta be allowances for that, if they don't have the firsts to give up, wouldn't they fall to the next year?

You can only put an offer sheet in for a player if you have the correct compensation.

Yeah and it (the picks) has to be for that year.

Seriously though...not a great defence there in Philly + a really average goalie = big trouble?

I don't like Philly at all and they will be fighting it out with everyone else for the last playoff spot(s).

They did pretty good in the standings last year and we struggled against them as well. Sure we could score on them fairly well but they were pretty good at getting back into the game.

Still remember how we blew a 3-0 lead on them, they were in our zone most of the time and we had lots of trouble containing them (especially Simmonds who'd crash the net).

Philly was a similar team to Ottawa last season, a team that could outscore their suspect defense. Our goaltending is better, but their offense is much better.

Well I can make a valid argument that if Methot improves the Sens defence, then Schenn can improve Philly's defence. Both came from crappy teams, where they were both being pushed out of the depth charts. So if one can rebound, surely the younger one can. Luke's not a bad defenceman - he is very physical and has a lot of room to improve.

Factor in a rebound year from Bryzgalov and they can be better.

I don't have much faith in Bryzgalov, he just looked so mentally weak the past year, he's a flake.

Before he played behind a structured Dave Tippett defense in a market where no one cared who he was, how well he played and how much money he makes. In Philly he cracked, when the season was over he went and cried to the Russian media how bad he had it.

Maybe he'll be better without the distraction of the Winter classic but he doesn't look strong enough mentally to handle the expectations on him.

So wow was I shocked when I looked up stats to compare Methot to Schenn and found out that Schenn has played 35 more NHL games despite being 4 years younger. He also has a higher PPG, which is not important for the type of players they are. But he's also amongst leaders in hits year in and out.

The problem is the hole Pronger left. He was a massive part of that D core and now he's basically gone.

Bryzgalov is a tremendous flake, I'd be scared dungless to have him as my goalie. No mental toughness at all.

If he sucks as hard as a lot of people expect him to, the Flyers could actually miss the playoffs. It's that competitive in the East.

Possibly the worst off season move was Holmgren NOT aggressively going out to sign Vokoun, instead letting him sign with a division rival.

Vokoun never made it to the off-season, he was traded and signed well before July 1.

Bryzgalov just needs to get serious - he's too distracting. He needs discipline.

Pronger is for sure a huge void - and I don't think he can even be considered as possibly coming back.

But Timmonen, Cobourn, Meszaros and Schenn is pretty good.
