Ha. Ya, it would be. Of course, they added Sutter, not Suter. Still, Sutter (meh), a 1st (Pouliot), and Parise replacing Staal would be a massive success.

Now they just need a goaltender that won't let 26 pucks past him in one playoff series.

I don't think it's entirely up to him. They're in deep financial doo-doo.

Well A Train should be on his way out. That contract was a big time mistake. Wonder if they can move Kovulchuk.

I think people making a big deal that Ottawa isn't on this supposed "Rick Nash Officia Destinations List" are overreacting. No reason that Nash doesn't change his mind, if that's the case.

7 to 9 million reasons why.

Seriously, people really don't get how much tax he will pay eh? If it was me I would be staying in the US knowing I am going to clear millions more and take it home.

Kovalchuk kind of rehabbed his rep in this playoff run. I can't see why they couldn't move him.

Just way too long of a contract. Has there been a good contract given out over 8 years that a team hasnt regreted? I dont think there has been.

Too early to tell for most of them you'd think since it's only a recent development.

Tell you what, a lot of people here were running some of our very own beloved Ottawa Senators out of town based on their SCF performances. How did Zach "WalksOnWater" Parise do in the Finals?

I do because I know how much I pay. But, I also know that the rich somehow avoid paying taxes...

Either way, Murray seems to think he's still in it:

The July 1 date might also start the ball rolling again on talks for Rick Nash, the Columbus sniper who still very much appeals to the Senators.

“I think it’s alive for a lot of teams,” Murray said when asked if he was still in the running for Nash. “From what I understand, they’re going to wait until July 1, and then they think the market is going to up a little bit after Zach Parise is signed, and then they’ll have more suitors and a bigger deal (and) they might get better assets.

Murray hedged when asked if he’s made Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson his best offer.

“They talked to me about young players they like in the organization, and I said when you’re ready to talk serious and maybe make a deal, we’ll talk,” said Murray. “I’m not throwing a whole bunch of names out there and letting them pick what they want to pick, by any means. We’ll see when the time comes what happens. They’ve told me they’ll definitely get back to me, to see if there’s interest in our part.”

Murray is doing a good job here. He's not letting anything out, he's not giving an inch, and he's saying "when you want to move him, we'll talk".

Put it this way, I am glad Murray is the GM doing the dealing for the Sens and am beyond happy it isn't Howsen here in Ottawa. He has no clue what he's doing.

I think we can safely hang some recent bad decisions on The Gene now, can't we?

I don't think there has been many bad moves made by Ottawa in general over the last 3 or 4 years. Kovalev was 100% a Melnyk move but I still think it was the right move. Gonchar I stil llike the move.

The only real bad move was the Leclaire deal but it still made sense and they got Lehner out of it.

Hehe. I couldn't help liking Kovalev when he was on his game. What a dominant player. Mind boggling.

Campoli was a good D man for the Sens for 3 seasons. 26th overall pick? That gets you what? Murray got the player he wanted with the 26th pick anyways, wears #33 for the Sens. Keep things in perspective, they landed Silfverberg and Lehner in that draft, they didn't need the 26th overall pick. Murray and the scouts had a plan and it worked out pretty close to perfectly.
