The price for Nash is steep. Might take Lehner or Bishop, Zibanejad, Foligno, Wiercioch AND their 2012 1st rounder. #Sens

The buzz in Pittsburgh so far. The Ottawa Senators are serious players in the Rick Nash sweepstakes. Might be between OTT, PHI and NYR.

Not that AJ is some sort of insider or anything, but I guess he's in Pittsburgh right now.

No way he's worth that. If he goes for that much... MAYBE if you take Lehner out and put in Bishop and the swap the 15th for 31st... that I can see as perhaps CLOSE to fair value... Wiercoich at this point is a throw in.

No doubt. As nice as it would be to add a player like Nash, walking away from a stupid deal is so easy, given how good this team is regardless.

By the way, this is why I think now is a great time for a deal. Talk about no pressure and dealing from a position of strength!

I ask for a legitimate source linking Nash to Ottawa, and God gives me AJ Jakubec. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humour?

Alright, I'll play along. If the deal is Bishop, Zibanejad, Foligno, Wiercioch AND their 2012 1st rounder, then…well…I dunno. I don't think losing Bishop/Foligno/Wiercioch hurts the team too much, and Zbad is still an unproven commodity. If you look at how this affects our current roster, it's essentially Foligno for Nash.

I would not put Lehner in that package instead of Bishop.

I hope Murray tries to get Ryan from Anacrime instead.

Howson needs to stop smoking whatever he's smoking in his office.

I'm sure everyone agrees and that's why the cost will be different than the asking price.

Weircoich is a nice chip because he got beat out of the spot they wanted for him in Boroweicki. Wiercoich will have a tough time getting into Ottawa within the next 4 or 5 years with Phillips/Cowen/Borowiecki taking up the left side.

Flip the 1st for their 31st, draft Dansk if that's thier plan.

Ziabenjad obviously hurts. Foligno doesn't. Bishop/Lehner is the piece they really want and what will get this deal done if it does indeed happen. If you are giving up that much though, Lehner is the guy you have to keep.

I'd say Wiercioch and flipping 15th for their 31st overall is as high I'd go on top of Foligno, Zbad and Bishop/Lehner.

I'd really prefer to keep Lehner as well, I think they'd prefer Bishop as he is more NHL ready. Lehner is awfully young and inexperienced for full-time NHL duty, at least I hope that's how they see it.

If the deal is something like

Nash/Mathot(salary dump)/31st

for

Foligno/Zibanejad/Wiercoich/Bishop/15th... I think that's a pretty good deal for both sides.

Would Methot even be a useful piece for us ?

Take a long look at how our defence shakes out for next year as of right now. Ok, even a short look.

Yes, he'd be useful, and he's a local boy.

I know the state of our blueline, I am more wondering how good of a player is Methot and whether he'd be an upgrade or not.

For sure. More of a plug that would fit into the 6 role but good depth none the less. I will bet you that Boroweicki is playing top 4 mins by the 1/2 way point in the season though.

He has a $3M cap hit, that's a lot for a #6 plug/depth role.

It is but he's a good player. Not a sure fire top 4 but he can fill that role for a short period of time IMO. Sens need to spend some cash back there if they want to compete and Methot will play that kind of game.
