CBJ needs players they can hang on to (RFAs, etc.) pending UFAs will walk.

A lot of us were right in thinking that Ottawa has the most to offer of just about any team in the NHL.

Unless they flip Clowe right away.

This is probably what happens, unfortunately for me.

Anaheim and Pittsburgh swap Ryan for Staal.

Columbus trades Nash to Philly for a package surrounding JVR.

Maybe, yeah. Something around a guy who's an RFA and under the team's control.

Why would Columbus take Philly's deal over ours, unless Nash forces their hand and vetoes Ottawa.

In that case, I can see you being pretty close there.

Why? Exactly why you said - Nash wants to play for a specific team. Columbus doesn't exactly get a raw deal - JVR + is a nice prize. Young, American top 6 forward.

You know - everyone knows- that I desperately want my favourite player in Ottawa, it would be a dream come true.

While I am certain everything is being done to make it happen, I feel Ottawa's not his destination of choice. There's no reason not to come to Ottawa though.

Question. Did Hitchcock coach Nash? If so. That would explain the low point totals. Imagine him on an offence first team?

With Spezza and Karlsson you mean? And under MacLean? I can't help but be intrigued.

Nash has been there for 10 years so yes he was there when Hitchock was there.

You know what else can account for low points? When your best teammates are David Vyborny, Derrick Brassard, Anotine Vermette and RJ Umberger.

Also, they aren't 'that low' for a guy on a perennial bottom feeding team.

Nash will put up 60ish points here. He'll be like Lecavalier here.

Remember how people thought Heatley would get 50-60 goals playing with Thornton .......

Nash is younger, faster and healthier than Heatley. Take that for what it's worth.

Also, they are different players. Nash creates his own scoring chances, whereas Heatley doesn't. You won't see Heatley dangle through am entire team.

Spezza and Nash are similar players - both are big and ridiculously talented with the puck, but Spezza's more of a passer and Nash a finisher.

60 points is not a bad guess, sounds right. He'll probably be a consistent 30-40 goal guy, which is great. If the Sens can get three 30 goal scorers (Spezza, Nash and Michalek) that's awesome.

And most importantly, we know that Nash’s list of approved teams, as it stands, is now at seven teams – the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. There was speculation the Toronto Maple Leafs were on the list at one time, but they are no longer on it.

We're wasting our time.

I don't think we are wasting our time, or the Sens are wasting their time,... I think Nash is wasting his own and Columbus' time (if true).

How many of those teams want him, can afford him, or give Columbus what they want for him?

Boston - $3.8M in cap space, 22 players
Chicago - $8.2M, 23 players
Detroit - $24M, 19 players
NY - $21M, 15 players
Philly - $9M, 20 players
Pittsburgh - $8M, 19 players
San Jose - $11M, 15 players

Nash has an NMC.

One of those teams will do what SJ did to us and send a cap dump to Columbus if they have to. Nash will block other offers.

We've seen this before, history never fails to repeat itself.

Except Howson is a stubborn Richard.

Sucks for Nash I guess, looks like he may not be in the NHL if he doesn't open his horizons.

Columbus won't take a cap dump.

Also, these teams haven't even taken into their own needs yet - how many of them have re-signed all their own players? How about have a starting roster?

Fact is he was the same age as Heatley when he was traded.
