Nah, I didn't really say it how you took it. I just said "giving more than you get". Take it how you want, but to trade for an elite player, the other team's GM usually asks for a ransom, right?

Toronto gave more than they got for Kessel. Why? Because they thought it was worth it. Boston's not too upset. LA gave Philly a lot for Richards, Columbus gave Philly a lot for Carter. Not really working out too well for them.

Contract is actually fine in terms of cap hit. He got dicked around by Philly so he'd probably welcome a trade to a better team/city.

Contract terms are fine for the next say, 3-5 years but he's got over 10 years left .... 10 years.

I probably fall into the category of people that don't really like Carter, but he definitely can be an impact player and his contract...while long, is well structured. On the fence, but one thing's for sure, he's moving along - if not by the deadline in the summer.
EDIT: He can play wing IIRC, correct?
