I like cunneyworth, but this really just tossing him in the fire. JM is still a good coach who took them to the conference finals and one goal away from beating the eventual Stanley Cup champs. Why on earth would they wanna get rid of him so quickly is beyond me....

This management just doesn't have a clue. They're the new Toronto of the pre-Burke era. Martin, Halak and Cammalleri led them to the Conf. finals. Now the only one that's left is struggling.

Dammit, I really liked his boring, predictable style. Hopefully they don't get exciting.

Why does Gauthier still have a job? It doesn't make any sense, the team needs a direction, it has nothing right now.

Wow, not surprised but the timing sucks -- fire the guy a week and a half before Christmas (of course those guys don't really suffer from the pink slip like the rest of us do). Still, money issues aside, getting fired plays all kinds of games with your head.

And, true, how does Gauthier still have a job?

P.S. Does Cunneywoth speak French? Yeah, I went there.

I'm gonna guess no because he was never run out of Ottawa as a player.

Nope. PG said that he'll work on his French.

Also, apparently Larry Carriere is going to be an assistant coach. Pat Hickey explains that, while he doesn't have any coaching experience (at all), his "biggest asset may be his ability to speak French and he might assume some of the public relations duties from the unilingual Cunneyworth."

That almost sound dirty.

The coach is there to coach, and I'd be surprised if Martin held practices in French. The press conferences, true, would be hard, but the French media speak better English than some CBC English personnel.
