If Konopka and Rundblad are in, who is out (pick two)?

You're right, he probably wouldn't have caught him, but he should have made the effort. Who knows, what if Bertuzzi missed and nobody was there to get the rebound?

The other D-man was racing in ?

Expecting Gonchar to make the effort is like expecting zero no look passes from Spezza this year.

That's how he is they're not going to change him. He's a $5.5m PP specialist, although I think he made some good plays defensively as well.

I think they should dress Rundblad. My first choice to sit would be Gonchar, and I realize it messes up your handedness, but oh well. As bad as Karlsson was, he tried, and aside from saving a goal where the puck was loose in the crease, Gonchar was lazy.

If Konopka dresses, who sits? Need Smith, would be silly to scratch Zibanejad, and Da Costa doesn't deserve it.

Butler sits.

There is a poll; Butler added.

You've got Karlsson, Cowen, Rundblad, Lee all watching, to say nothing of Greening, Smith, DaCosta, Zibanejad, Condra, Filatov, Butler. When you are a vet and there are that many rookies you've got to provide a good example.

Don't sit Zibanejad! I want to see him tonight now that his first game is done. He wasn't good last night, but I dearly want to see him tonight.

I'll vote Lee (no other choice) and Butler because Da Costa is NOT coming out.

Loved what Da Costa brought, I wish they'd try him on the wing at some point, but he makes for a heck of a 3rd line C.

Zibanejad was fine last night. No mistakes really, made his pressence known here and there, not sure what else you expect.

Da Costa may be Ottawa's pleasent surprise this year.

Projected Leafs pairings tonight:

Butler out, Konopka in. That is the only change.

As per Mendes:

MacLean confirms that Butler will be healthy scratch for Konopka. 5 centers tonight.

Despite defensive breakdowns last night, no changes to Ottawa blue line tonight. Rundblad a healthy scratch again.

I thought DaCosta showed some selfishness out there with the long shifts and sometimes trying to break in one on three, instead of dumping it in. He'll learn that you can't do that at this level.

MacLean on Rundblad scratch: "We're going to make sure that he's working on his defensive game and he's comfortable before we put him in."

So...

Filatov/Spezza/Michalek
Greening/Zibanejad/Alfie
Foligno/Smith/Neil
Condra/Da Costa/Konopka

Cowen/Gonchar
Phillips/Lee
Kuba/Karlsson

Anderson

He isn't used to the 40-50 seconds shift yet. That's something that is coached and he will adjust to it. Wouldn't call it selfish, would call it inexperience.

Either way, he's been impressive and looks like he could be a legit 2nd line center with some patients.

Heh. Just call him Dr. Da Costa.

Butler being out is the right move, he's done nothing and is providing absolutely no offense.
