Don't want Penner. He is only dominant in the Silicon Valley Men's Softball League or whatever Dean Lombardi said before

As for the player Washington should deal, Semin without a doubt. If they dump that guy for anything near what they got for Varlamov, they should do it and run. They have enough talent without him to make a serious run at the cup.
The only player The Sens should be looking to trade for is a top 6 forward and I really believe Penner will be the guy they go after if they do indeed make a move, which is probably about 50/50, but LA does have to make a move.
stempniaksen wrote:Why would the LA Kings move Penner? His value is fairly low right now because of Lombardi's comments and the Kings are rather weak on the wing already. They also have about 12 million in cap space, so I don't see how that's an issue.

First, this Dung for brains trades Craig Anderson for Brian Elliott...then he trades a 1st round pick in the heart of a retooling + a 2nd round pick that will be high no matter what, for Varlamov - a guy who's definitely good, but nowhere near as good as Vokoun.
McPhee kills 2 birds there, he eliminates one destination for Vokoun to go to and he FLEECES Colorado.

Murray said our roster is set. They're looking for a specific type of role player/versatile forward that's about it.
Da Costa is in Ottawa all summer training, he may be physically ready by training camp. Zib might make the team and then there is Regin. Between the 3 of them, it'll sort itself out who makes the team and who doesn't.
Along with the defence pairings (and whether Rundblad and/or Cowen make the team) I think the roster is pretty much set.

Brett Lebda and some AHL dude for Cody Franson and Matthew Lombardi

That deal is criminal. I don't even care if Lombardi never plays a game on that contract, either. Awful. NSH needed to dangle a guy like Franson to upgrade their offence, not to bring in safe, middling D while shipping out offence alongside him.
Yuck. Good day for Leafs nation, tho'.
