And Doughty still needs a contract... find it very odd that they didn't make that a priority before acquiring Mike Richards and signing Simon Gagne. But if they need to make room, Ottawa will take Anze Kopitar in lieu of cap space.

The Avs are also really really incompetent.

Varlamov has to be unconscience for them to keep out of the basement of that division. Yah, they have a ton on young talent but they have absolutely no leader, no proven goaltender, and their defense is probably the worst in The NHL. Love their prospects, hate their team.
Fact of the matter is that trade is one of the worst in the last 5 years because everything about it is completly unknown to Colorado, Washington knew exactly what they were getting rid of and what they already have. No idea what they are thinking over there. There is just no way Vokoun wouldn't have accepted 3 years at 15 mil, give or take. Yah, playing for a Stanley Cup is special but I would place the value of it at 10 million dollars or more.

Why does room need to be made for Carlson? He's been playing for a while now.
Big Ev wrote:Don't want Penner. He is only dominant in the Silicon Valley Men's Softball League or whatever Dean Lombardi said before
NEELY wrote:Yah, I don't get why Colorado did that for Varlamov... he's basically Leclaire without the one all-star season behind him, plus he's a flight risk.
As for the player Washington should deal, Semin without a doubt. If they dump that guy for anything near what they got for Varlamov, they should do it and run. They have enough talent without him to make a serious run at the cup.
The only player The Sens should be looking to trade for is a top 6 forward and I really believe Penner will be the guy they go after if they do indeed make a move, which is probably about 50/50, but LA does have to make a move.
