This is where Murray has to make sure his phone is charged at all times, teams do weird things when they either like a guy on the market, or have a huge contract to take care of in-house. Murray should be ear to the ground from here on...

We don't need Franson nor should we be taking on Marc Savard Jr. (Lombardi). It's a great trade for the Leafs but we're a bad fit.
We already pulled a fast one to get Filatov for a 3rd.

Did I miss a trade? Isn't Fehr a Cap?
from Katie Carrera of Capitals Insider,
After the first day of free agency passed and Vokoun remained unsigned, his agent contacted the Capitals with an offer McPhee couldn’t ignore.
“We were told early yesterday that Tomas Vokoun wanted to play on a top team and that he would forgo a big deal to do it,” McPhee explained in a conference call Sunday.
The Capitals signed Vokoun to a one-year, $1.5 million deal, considerably less than what many predicted for a netminder who’s tied for the best save percentage in the league since 2005-06.
“The money side, it’s not great, but I think the opportunity is unbelievable,” Vokoun said in a conference call with reporters. “Obviously it was disappointing day for me on July 1. For whatever reason I was in a bad spot, and Washington came in.”

And just because we stole Filatov (that remains to be seen), there's no rule we can't do it a couple more times with desperate teams.

I'm sure we are, these type of deals don't come along too often.
Filatov already IS a steal, to try out a #6 overall pick on your roster for only the cost of a 3rd is robbery. If he works out it's cause for Columbus GM to be fired on the spot.
Meh. Are we really looking for another RW? It would be nice to see if he'd work out here, but I think we have enough of a project in Filatov.SpezDispenser wrote:Dammit! Bergfors signs with Nashville. For real cheap too I'm sure.

Where we going to play him ? We're stacked on RW with Butler and Alfie.
With Filatov we're set on LW as well. #2C is the only hole with 3 guys competing for the job.
