For the past couple of days I've jumped onto the Huberdeau bandwagon after realizing Landeskog won't be around - I got really excited for Hubs. Now it's looking like he won't be around either for our pick - F***!!!

My only hope is that the Devils or Islanders have fallen in love with either Hamilton or Murphy and we get the option to select Couturier - IMO is a guy that is being criminally underrated and would be a BEAST as second line center behind #19.

Knowing the way this team consistently kicks us straight in the groin - repeatedly, we'll end up with Strome, who despite putting up huge numbers in the O, doesn't really excite me or interest me all that much.

IMO, we keep looking at the forwards in the draft because that's our need. I don't know much about Hamilton or Murphy, but it's reasonable to think that the other teams (particularly NJD and NYI) are looking hard at the D options.

I think all those guys will be better contributors than Landeskog as far as points.

Couturier is the guy I'm backing though. I think everyone realizes that by now. Rockon

He looks like ET with that neck. Ahhhhh!

Bahaha. Priceless. Thanks for the laughs.

No, he's got nothing on Riley Nash.

If we pick another D-man, regardless of who is still there at 6, I am switching teams. Period, full stop.

Adam Larsson is sick though.

Future D of Cowen-Karlsson, Larsson-Rundblad would be insane.

It would be a crime to have that much talent on the back end, and have nothing up front to complement it. We need a stud up front badly.

I'm still trying to savor the moment where NYI was revealed as the 5th pick....In hindsight, kinda wish it was us Grumbling

I would think one of NYI or NJ takes Ryan Murphy. At the end of it, we'll have a good chance at Couturier/Huberdeau/Strome. But yeah, sucks we miss out on Lando Darn

What happenes if Lando is taken by the avalanche? Would Florida actually take Larsson considering they got Kulikov and Gudbranson in the wings? My guess is they'd want a forward for sure. Then comes Jersey and by all accounts they'd be happy with a Couturier or Larsson.

as always late to the party.... and i have to say this party sucks BALLS!!!

If anyone is thinking we are moving up into the top 3 draft picks they are sadly mistaken. I understand the logic behind NEELY's belief of making a huge offer Tallon cannot refuse but he'd get chased out of town if he did that.
The Panthers hold enough picks as it is in this draft and have picked quite a bit last year. Just not going to happen. Now fpr picks 4-5-6 there's a chance we could move up. Like people have said some of these teams might be interested in nabbing a D-man. But I'm afraid the draft might get Fowlered this year. NJ might look to lose parise so might be tempted to strike at Hub or couturier. NYI will likely not pass up a chance to nab another top line forward if its presented to them.
I can sympathize with Hemlock as our need is definitely a forward.
MY guess is we pick Strome at 6th.
Too many good forwards for D-men to get picked high.

IMO there might be quite a few very decent forwards available with the NSH pick. So no loss there.

Mega-trade with NJD for Parise? Wiercioch and the 6th pick for his rights? Ahhhhh! I realize it's crazy, but perhaps crazy....like a fox? Ahhhhh!

Murray thinks moving up to #3 might be possible. Panthers are #3

We could have had RNH, Prince AND Zibanejad. Now we're gonna end up, if that happens, with probably Landeskog only.
Diddle this Dung. I am Cussing frustrated. Sign me up for Yakupov/Galchenyuk. WIth our luck we probably will lose the one we pick to the KHL.

Yeah, and I could have been the pope.

What what i've been reading and looking at some mock drafts i seriously hope 2 D-men get picked before our turn. I'm Ok with us picking Strome but i think that if Couturier could slide to our pick i'd be much happier with that outcome.

Late to this poop party.

Moving up into the top 3 doesn't really happen, given history. Not to say it can't happen, but I think the price would be ridiculous. We'll see what Murray can do.

We'd be lucky to get Couturier at #6 (he's #5 on TSN's rankings). Here's what Bobby Mac had to say about Couturier:

While there has been much talk about Couturier's fall from grace, the scouts we talked to suggest reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. While it's true he doesn't appear to be the mix to legitimately challenge for first overall, two of the 10 scouts we surveyed still had him in their top three, seven of 10 have him solidly in the top 5, including four scouts who still ranked him ahead of Huberdeau.

---

Sounds promising. I think the worst case is we wind up with Strome...and that's probably not so bad.

Wow, people and all these different scenario's.. crazy.

People need to realize if they do bring in one of Couturier, Huberdeau, or Strome, which ever guy lands in Ottawa probably has a better shot at reaching his full potential in Ottawa than he does anywhere else. Having Spezza taking those top line mins, playing against teams top pairs, and basically protecting the prospect will pay dividends.

If The Sens are looking for the perfect 2nd line center, Couturier is probably that guy. If they are looking for a guy with high potential and the upside of a play making, 1st line center, that Huberdeau. If they are looking for some goal scoring up the middle and a guy who can turn nothing into something, it might be Strome.

If Ottawa moves up to grab LAndeskog, fantastic. That's what I want. If they don't, getting one of those 3 guys will be amazing.

Also, there will be more than just Adam Larsson drafted in terms of D before The Sens pick. Hamilton or Murphy are both good possibilities to go in the top 5, especially to teams like NJ and NYI.

Worst case scenario they pickup a potential top line center... doesn't sound all that bad. It all depends on what NJ and NYI do in front of Ottawa, if they both take D men, then a great player is going to fall to Ottawa. We'll see though as Murray gained enough assets to move up the draft if need be.

i know the mock drafts on NHL.com haven't been too accurate in a while but 2 of them have us picking Huberdeau. i'd be pleased. to be quite honest there's plenty of depth in this draft and i'd be a bit pissed if we traded the NSH pick to move up.(unless it's to get a hold on RNH) the 2nd rounders is another story, but there's alot of intriguing names later in the first round that could turn into great wingers.
