Couturier is the next Getzlaf. Book it.

Strome has just as good of a chance as turning out as RNH. Couturier has just as good as a chance at turning out as Landeskog. There are safer picks than others but it's up in the air to say the least.
Also, if people think there won't be 2 or even 3 D men drafted before The Sens get a shot, they are mistaken. Larsson is an obvious choice, one of Hamilton or Murphy will be drafted as well, perhaps both. A guy like Murphy may be exactly what NJ is looking for.
That's all fine for the average fan, but the Sens scouts have a list of top 6 and they surely prefer the guy at N1 to the guy at N6, and I am guessing they are not indifferent.
Can you imagine if the SEns didn't get Karlsson at 15 but got a guy like Colborne? Remember at that time most lists had Colborne ahead of Karlsson.
I just hope we trade up by using those 2nd rounders to get the guy we want. Quality > quantity, always. I don't care if you trade all those 2nd rounders. IF we can get a franchise player out of this draft it's a win.
I am just tired of setting my expectations back every week. It started with a division title win to a bubble team, then a lottery pick, top 4, top 5 and we end up with 6. Sorry if I'm Cussing frustrated.
That's exactly it. Fact of the matter is Murray added a player like Da Costa who is basically a 1st round pick like Nashville's. If you have to trade that 1st and 2 2nds to get Landeskog (the player Murray truly wants) you do it.
In all honesty though, it comes down to what Edmonton does. Do they go with RNH? If they do Colorado takes Larsson for sure. If they go with Larsson, I would bet The Avs snatch up Landeskog to play wing with Duchene for the next 10-15 years.
I just hope Strome, Huberdeau and Couturier tear the playoffs apart, because it is looking like we will get one of them. That way it will look like we got equal value at 4-5 or 6. Now though, I prefer Huberdeau adn Strome's offensive potential a lot more than Couturier so I don't like it.
THe past 3 years we have been looking for an offensive game changer. We deserve one.

Yup. If they need to give up Nashville's 1st and another 2nd and something else, you do it to get the player they truly want.
If that's what it takes, absolutely. I think flipping the 3rd for the 6th, Ottawa's 2nd, and a kid like Wiercoich would be a pretty good deal for both sides.

6th+Nash FRP+Ott SRP= crazy IMO. On the plus side, FLA would have no choice but to accept. Of course, if they say no, we can always send them our 12 picks+Spezza+Karlsson.

It's not crazy to go out and get a franchise player, no matter the cost. The only place you can get them is in the draft. If you have a chance to, you do it. No one will remember giving up a late 1st and a depth player, they will remember getting Landeskog.

Yikes. That's overkill for a draft that's not featuring a top 3 that's head and shoulders above the rest. I'd hope they don't go down this route at all. By all means they definitely shouldn't trade their own 2nd rounder. Although like you mentioned, having the nashville pick and now Da Costa so that might make it tempting.

Gonchar
Kuba
Carkner
NSH 1st
6th overall
Regin
Lee
Foligno
Ott 2nd or Chi 2nd or Bos 2nd ,Ott 3rd
fantastic chance: Weircioch
Not out of the realm that some combination of this will help the sens move up in the draft, be it the 6th overall or NSH 1st

Kessel, except the pick may not end up working out.

He has a shot to be if he is drafted to Ottawa. Florida or NJ, no way he turns out.

I'm confident in him turning out in New Jersey. He will have some SOLID players to play with and that organization knows how to win and develop their players. He would be #2 to Zajac and he would get to play with 1 of Parise/Kovy.
Florida...yikes, I would feel sorry for Couturier but they are on a decent track at least.

Florida will not and will never have any true leaders or vets to bring him along. Everyone needs help and he will have none. Draft picks go to Florida and Columbus to die.
NJ, he has a shot, yah. Ottawa is 100% the perfect landing spot for 4 or 5 of those guys. NYI is a pretty good place being Tavares too. Ottawa needs a winger more than anything though. Hopefully Tallon is willing to deal.

Kessel is different, Toronto didn't know what they were giving up when they traded their picks, Ottawa does. It's not a top 3, it's not the soul 2nd rounder they have in the draft, they have a ton of assets.
Ottawa is deep in terms of 2nd-4th line guys in the organization. Again, Da Costa was a huge signing for that reason. They have a number 1 center in Spezza, they need that winger to take Alfi's spot, that's Landeskog. You go after him and you go hard. If they traded 12 picks in this draft for Florida's, I would be fine with it. Obviously it wouldn't happen but you see the point I am making.
