Arahova is good too.

If ever you are in Dorval, try Kostas in the Dorval mall. The best!

I'm looking forward to North End Pizza this coming weekend...

Dorval mall? Are you talking about Les Jardins Dorval or is this a different Dorval from the Montreal West Island one?

Yes, THAT Dorval Mall.

Forget that; make a pizza in your big green egg; they're fabulous.

I remember great cheese danishes sold in that mall (just some coffee counter). I used to stop there on the way to work. I've been in Ottawa 16 years and I haven't been able to find a good cheese danish. Most place don't even have *any*. Tim Horton's make some but they really aren't all that good (plus I prefer the ones with no fruit added in --just the cheese).

Can you make those in your BGE?

On a more serious note, I've got a big number birthday coming up and my wife was asking for ideas. One that I had suggested was a new barbequeue -- there's usually a fall sale going on in September. A Weber or a Vermont Casting would be a nice replacement for my aging Canadian Tire special. But then I got to thinking about the BGE. I can use that as my BBQ, right? What does it run on?

The Big Green Egg runs on charcoal; the real deal; not the briquettes (they don't get hot enough). Another solid charcoal BBQ is the Hasty-bake

*Only* $1999 on sale. Yikes.

The BGE isn't cheap either but it's guaranteed for life; never have to buy a BBQ again. oh and by the way, you can bake in a BGE so your danish could be made (need a good recipe though).

I use my BGE more than I use my stove.

There's a cheaper version in the US call Komodo Joe.

I have a medium BGE now, but I'm getting the XL next year to have 2 of these side by side in a bench I'll build for them.

I don't remember you ever saying you were a BGE owner. Not that the thread is exclusive. In fact, given your affection for steaks, maybe it's something you should consider. I hear the Egg does a fantastic job with steaks.

Not interested in being a BGE owner personally. I have my BBQ hooked into the natural gas line to my house and that is just perfect for me. :D

My wife found this place(not exactly in Ottawa I think I never been around there):

Supposedly really good, gotta try it sometime. Pricey though.

Look at the challenge these guys have. The Determinator Burger:

http://dsbbq.ca/the-determinator-hamburger.html

It is 5 1/2lbs. of food. It is made with 3-8oz home made burger patties, with sweet and smoky BBQ sauce, back bacon, beef brisket, three onion rings, blended cheese, chipotle mayo, 1lb. of fresh cut fries, 1lb. of creamy coleslaw and six quartered pickles. And if that's not enough we use grilled cheese sandwiches as buns. Yummy.

All you win is a golf shirt? No thanks!

does anyone remember Malibu Jacks in the bytown market? right under the office for "le droit"? they had this thing called the good times , good friends taco dip. unbelievable.... Ok Diddle this i'm going to sleep till i get back to canada.

Never tried or even know what the Man-o-War is, I stick to the 3-ring binder. Might be going to The Works today though, will look into it.

depending on your taste it might sound weird. it's horseradish and dijon mustard... but it's delicious. anyone ever try the peanut butter one? i keep sayin i will but i get there and something else always sounds better. It's almost a ritual for me, everytime i'm in ottawa for more then 2 days the works gets squeezed in there at least once(or twice)
I find the tower of rings a huge ripoff. 10 buck for some rings? pppfffff.
