As per Mendes:
Murray says he likely wasn't going to qualify RFA Campoli this summer because of young defensemen coming up.

(UPDATE 2:36 PM)- Conditional 2nd round pick is definitely a 2nd. Apparently it will be one of the Hawks three 2nd round picks. They also have Calgary's and Atlanta's.

Ooh I'll take Atlanta's please!
I'm betting the condition is "we'll see where the 2nds fall and give you the worst one."

That's exactly it. According to NHL.com, the Hawks have until 48 hours before the start of the draft to choose which 2nd round pick they will give the Sens.

Diddle yeah, that's true, Chicago could end up middle of the pack, so that pick could be 45th overall. Not too shabby.
Unless Murray decides he NEEDS to trade that pick and ends up with someone we don't really need.

He's talking about trading picks for a Top 6 forward at the draft. Time will tell.

He also mentioned packaging 2nds to trade for another 1st. Lots of options. This'll be an exciting summer.
SpezDispenser wrote:^ That's cool, I would love to get another 1st, but I'm not sure the 2nd will buy you a good sniper (which is what he's talking about), I think you wait it out and hope Bobby B and Spez can connect.
Before we blew this up - which was done pitch-perfectly IMO - I was crying for a sniper, now...I think we wait and see what eventually comes out of the 1st round pick + Bobby B + perhaps a wildcard like Greening/Condra etc.

NEELY wrote:Condra and Butler are the real deals, so is Greening. He has limited offense but he is a well above average skater, a huge body, and plays hard.

We have options which is the best thing.
They'll be watching the remaining games with interest to see what needs to be done in the offseason.

As Spader said, this summer should be very exciting - as long as people realize that we might be in the same position in the standings next year.

I think you're right, we need to assess Condra and Greening over the course of a longer sample size, but from what we've seen, they're very exciting, hard-working players.
Butler is 100% for real though, I would bet $$ on it, but like a lot of young guys, he has to make sure to hit the gym and bulk himself up as much as possible for next season.
I'm very pleased with the direction of this team - the youth was sorely needed and probably should have been indoctrinated in a lot earlier.
