As per Mendes:

Murray says he likely wasn't going to qualify RFA Campoli this summer because of young defensemen coming up.

(UPDATE 2:36 PM)- Conditional 2nd round pick is definitely a 2nd. Apparently it will be one of the Hawks three 2nd round picks. They also have Calgary's and Atlanta's.

Ooh I'll take Atlanta's please!

I'm betting the condition is "we'll see where the 2nds fall and give you the worst one." Dancing

That's exactly it. According to NHL.com, the Hawks have until 48 hours before the start of the draft to choose which 2nd round pick they will give the Sens.

OK. So add that to my correct predictions. Thanks ddt!

The good news is that we likely aren't giving up the 7th rounder and that all 3 teams (who's 2nd rounder Chicago owns) could miss the playoffs this season, giving us more picks and more high-ish picks.

Diddle yeah, that's true, Chicago could end up middle of the pack, so that pick could be 45th overall. Not too shabby.

Unless Murray decides he NEEDS to trade that pick and ends up with someone we don't really need.

He's talking about trading picks for a Top 6 forward at the draft. Time will tell.

He also mentioned packaging 2nds to trade for another 1st. Lots of options. This'll be an exciting summer.

^ That's cool, I would love to get another 1st, but I'm not sure the 2nd will buy you a good sniper (which is what he's talking about), I think you wait it out and hope Bobby B and Spez can connect.

Before we blew this up - which was done pitch-perfectly IMO - I was crying for a sniper, now...I think we wait and see what eventually comes out of the 1st round pick + Bobby B + perhaps a wildcard like Greening/Condra etc.

Might he trade a 1st for a package of 2nds?

Condra and Butler look like the real deal. I'm excited about the team right now. Particularly for this summer.

Condra and Butler are the real deals, so is Greening. He has limited offense but he is a well above average skater, a huge body, and plays hard.

We have options which is the best thing.

They'll be watching the remaining games with interest to see what needs to be done in the offseason.

Good move. Campo was the only d-man outside of Phillips that would garner a decent return and a 2nd round pick from chicago is good enough for me. So that gives us 3 2nd round picks....this draft will be exciting.

I was hoping though that the rags would have bitten on kuba. I guess as dumb as sather is, he's not THAT dumb Crying

I think you're right, we need to assess Condra and Greening over the course of a longer sample size, but from what we've seen, they're very exciting, hard-working players.

Butler is 100% for real though, I would bet $$ on it, but like a lot of young guys, he has to make sure to hit the gym and bulk himself up as much as possible for next season.

I'm very pleased with the direction of this team - the youth was sorely needed and probably should have been indoctrinated in a lot earlier.

We definitely have options, yeah, although I doubt Murray or the new GM does too much to be honest. We'll rely on goaltending to save the kids from total humiliation, possibly add a sniper, but I'm not even sure about that.

As Spader said, this summer should be very exciting - as long as people realize that we might be in the same position in the standings next year.

Our standing next year will really depend on whether Anderson stays and what coach we have. We shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as the Oilers this year as we're not relying on 19 year old for scoring.

Unless a team will be in dire need of cap relief I doubt we'll land any top-6 forward of significance with those draft picks, they're better off drafting players to restock Bingo as we'll taking quite a bit from them this year. May be better off to sign one of the available free agents for a reasonable deal.

Yes youth should have been brought in earlier... except there was no decent youth in Bingo until this season.. so that would have made it hard to do.
