You dont think RNH will be on the roster of a rebuilding Senators team within three years???

No one will be expecting us to win for a while but they should be played to get the experience.

We got a 2nd round draft pick-look at what our scouts have done with 2nd round picks, Plus cleared 2.2 million.

With 4 picks so far in the top 60 and probabbly 2-3 more coming we are in for a great draft day and a young fast team to watch over the next three years. Add to that, we will be picking in the top 10 for the next couple years and this team three years from now will be awesome.

I would also be willing to take on some bad expiring contracts with our new cap space if we got prospects/picks with them-for example sheldon souray and his 5.4 million hit that expires next year for Omark or their 2nd rounder. There are many teams that would gladly give up picks to rid themselves of bad contracts that Ottawa can absorb why we rebuild.

If we do this right we could have probably 6 picks in the top 2 rounds this year, and 4 in next years!!

Take a look and get excited

How about
2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
15. Matt Puempel
32. Niklas Jensen
59. John Gibson
Plus maybe two more.....

If you count our 3rd rounder, we have 5 of the first 63 picks.

Haha. It's becoming equivalent to the redshirts of Star Trek fame.

Hahahaha, beautiful allusion! NotWorthy

Yeah, I agree, it's next year or the year after latest for RNH or Landeskog or Couturier - or any of the top 5 picks.

So RNH makes the team in year three when we're supposed to be contenders? Great plan. I'll take Landeskog thanks.

RNH may possible be able to make it in sooner than expected kind of like Patrick Kane.

Hard to say, I'd draft him for his skill level alone, you don't find such talent easily at all.

Man. Could not believe this trade was real when I fired up my BB this morning and got the alert. Bah.

The best players are the ones in demand I guess... hopefully Murray can move some of the crap too though.

Not liking this trade... we'll see what comes of it... perhaps the 2nd will turn into something else...

agreed, might give up a bit of skill getting Landeskog, but hell, if he lives up even to a fraction of the comparison of being like Mike Richards, sold big time, we need a young player like that, and he is most nhl ready as deemed by most experts.

That could be a monumental mistake just taking a guy because he is the most "ready".

It's obviously not the only reason. Scouts put him ahead of RNH on the central scouting report right?

I think RNH and Landeskog are # 2 and 3 respectively, at least according to TSN, would like to know where the ISS ranks them.

^ Sounds about right, except, I think Huberdou (big time sp) has climbed to around 5th.

wish we could get another top 10 pick and grab Huberdu as well, have heard good things about him, and unfortunately, haven't made it to any q games this year to see him up close and personal.

agreed, but well, since the draft is a long ways off, will be wearing out my ps3 playing games until that comes, heart hasn't been in it to watch the games this year, been disappointed the few times I did watch Facepalm

spezza or karlsson is the only way

is runblad as good as karlsson???

would anyone trade karlsson if it meant we get larsson and nugent hopkins (to ottawa 2nd overall pick, to edmonton karlsson)

I know it won't happen but would you even consider it??

I personally wouldn't, like Karlsson's game too much, and those little mistakes he make now, those will go away with experience.
