Ottawa Senators TIDBITS & QUICK HITS!

I just heard from someone that went to buy tickets at SBP today that there is possibly a HUGE BLOCKBUSTER deal in the works right now. The receptionist at SPB said that something HUGE was going to happen in the next few days with the Sens.

Take it with a grain of salt, I don't know who she is or what she would know, but I thought I would mention it here.

It better not be anything too big just yet! I want there to be some excitement left on trade deadline day!!!!

UPDATE: Keller was spotted at Scotiabank Place yesterday, so he definitely did make the trip up. Guess the idea that another trade is brewing might be the most logical thing to believe right now. Hopefully a member of the Ottawa media will ask coach Cory Clouston about this during his post-skate interview.

I'm surprised that Ruutu has not been moved yet. Should have been the first, and easiest, deal to make.

Maybe putting him in the press box lately has hurt his value?

I know I got an e-mail today where for season ticket holders if you buy tickets you get 25% of the value of those tickets in concession vouchers. I doubt that's what she was referring to.

I'm not sure why the person went to the receptionist at the Sens Office to buy tickets, unless they meant the box office, but those people are even less in tune with what is going on with the team than you or I are.

I doubt it's team related, but more building/ticket related.

Really? I just figured people are waiting for the deadline to acquire him, or murray to trade him.

Waiting longer helps the acquiring team because then the prorated cap space they have will be greater. And Murray is waiting to hopefully increase the value in a bit of a bidding war.

Ruutu's type of player is more of a deadline day acquisition. A la Vaclav Varada when we got him, or Scott Walker of last year.

It is just risky because so many of the players we think/hope will be traded are very injury prone.

You would fly off the handle if Kovalev, Kuba, Gonchar and maybe Michalek got injured and their trade value dropped to nil prior to the deadline.

Injury potential aside, if you're too "patient" teams go in another direction and you're left holding the bag.

The guy that went there has Season tickets and went to the reception area where the offices were to pick up his tickets for tonight's game and talked to the receptionist there.

Again though, I doubt these people know much (unless she's in tight with a player...if you know what I mean ) I'm sure she hears rumblings though if she works there. Who knows...
