Preds acquire Mike Fisher for 2011 1st Round Pick + Condition 2012 pick!

There's more to it than just that though. There were a couple of guys I was chatting with that seemed to have a little better connections than just the common fan - and they were saying that they heard it was TO's pick to Ottawa for Phillips - which none of us understood.

So you start putting 2 and 2 together + Chirp was saying he'd heard some rumblings and he was 100% the guy who broke this trade (and others).

I'm with SpezD. My understanding is 3rd if they win 1 round, 2nd if they win 2 or more. So if they don't win a round, just the 1st.

Depends what you want to do with it. 2012 is getting a lot of hype for its defencemen.

You could always take the 2011 pick and swap if for one in 2012 plus a little extra anyway, couldn't you?

Moving Fisher was the right move for the franchise. SSF has been saying so for years.

Much as I like the guy (and wear his jersey), I think you're right. This move begins the process of making the Sens a better team.

Things never would've changed had Murray not made this move.

As stunned as I was (yes I was) because of the fan love for him and the fact that his smile alone puts butts in the seats, this was absolutely 100% the right thing to do to move on to bigger and better things with the franchise.

Good on Murray for doing it, I'm sure it wasn't that easy.

Does Murray get to stick around after this? This was a huge move on his part, and one that needed to be made. Has he bought himself another year as GM?
