Trevor Gillies gets a 5 and a game for a retaliation boarding on Clutterbuck in his first time out after serving 9 games.

Most useless hockey player in The NHL. Has more PIM then total time on ice as they said on TSN last night. Give him the rest of the regular season.

Hmm, is Cal Clutterbuck trying to give Parros a run for his money as the best facial hair in the NHL? I think so.

Yeah, I could see something centered around Gomez to Florida.

Perfect opportunity here. Gillies shouldn't have only gotten 9 games for his ridiculous Dung against Tangradi and the Pens, so now...here's his 15 games. Done and done.

Drury has an NMC, he can't be dumb enough to waive it for the Panthers.

Gomez is one of the worst contracts in the NHL, I can't imagine Panthers ownership paying for that waste. He has an NTC too.

Meh...Gomez is a good player though - and as stated, the Panthers will need to get to the cap floor. Tallon has said he'll try for some big fishes in the summer, but I think you have a better chance of getting someone like Gomez and insisting Montreal take back Olesz. Plus, Gomez is American and the thought of getting out of Montreal and going to Florida might actually entice him.

As for Drury...can't see anyone actually wanting him - even the Panthers. The ship has sailed on him I think.

Hall had a goal and and assist and decided to go for the GHHT. Lost his balance in the fight (his first) and twisted his leg badly on the way down. Looked like ankle took the worst of it but could have been his knee as well. He didn't return.

Bobby Mac is saying it looks like a high ankle sprain for Hall. With 5 weeks left in the season, that may do it for him. High ankle sprains are tough ones...

So, trades can no-longer happen, but what about waiver-wire pickups?

But it has a dramatic effect on the Sens chances of acquiring last place. Ahhhhh!

Hence my inquiry about being able to waive a player and having said player being picked up by the team in 30th place in the league. As much as I like Shannon, he can probably help the Oilers more than he can help us Smile

I believe anyone acquired by waivers now would not be eligible to play in the playoffs. They probably wouldn't be eligible to play in the NHL for the rest of the year, actually, now that I think of it.

Wouldn't that mean then that waivers are not in effect? If a team was to waive a player in any other situation, and the player was claimed, the claiming team has to play that player on their NHL roster, otherwise they have to waive them again. So it just seems illogical that a team would have to waive a player to send them to the AHL only for another team to claim them and assign them to their AHL team, no?

Hmmm. I honestly don't know. Research time!
