I would love to see Muller brought in, I still think he's eyeing the Habs job though.

Top of my list for sure.

Do you honestly believe we'll be getting not one, but two top-line wingers as UFAs after seeing what we were able to get in previous years, and seeing what's available this summer?

Do you honestly believe Melnyk will want to spend tons of cash chasing UFAs after the cluster f*ck he's seen this year?

I agree but to be fair it said FA or trade acquisition. What are your thoughts on that? Wink

The same. Even through trade, I don't think we're likely to get back players that will be top-line next season. Maybe prospects that could be down the road, but not next year.

I loved Cap'n Kirk when I was a Habs fan back in Montreal, but why does everyone think he'd make a wonderful coach? His only head coaching duties were guiding Queen's Golden Gaels to an 8-13-12 record. Hardly earth-shattering.

Haven't you heard? The grass is greener, every where other than here... which certainly helps to explain why people would honestly consider wanting to have Pierre McGuire as their GM: he is an inexhaustible source of fertilizer for keeping grass at its greenest, that's for sure.

This poor organization. It doesn't matter what it does, it will have fans who think they know better and who hate every move it does. Bring in a hockey guy for GM? Boo, recycled material! A new guy? Boo, inexperienced! Ditto for coach? Boo, and boo! Keep veteran players like Phillips, Neil, Kelly? Boo, old & useless! Trade veteran players like Phillips, Neil, Kelly? Boo, no leadership left! Stay the course? Boo, we suck! Rebuild? Boo, we will suck & not sell tickets!

Unless some combo of Steve Yzerman, Scotty Bowman, & Wayne Gretzky descent on the organization & take it over, & the organization wins every single trade it makes by a landslide, & every draft pick & signing & every move works out exactly as people have built up in their minds, half of you will be screaming your faces blue about how stupid everyone in the organization is & how much better it is for every other team out there.

Rob Ray says that Melnyk is truly pissed off at Murray for not stepping behind the bench.

http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hockey/comments/ray_melnyk_upset_by_murrays_refusal_to_coach/

I’ve talked to people up there - Melnyk wants Murray to go behind the bench to finish the year coaching, and he refuses to do it, and I think it’s causing a major turmoil amongst ownership and the general manager that he’s not willing to do that, and I think you may see at the end of the year that the coach and general manager may be moved out of there.”

That's fair though, Murray has a TON of stuff to do. Trade deadline, scouting for next year, university players, contracts. I'm okay with him not wanting to do it at 61 or whatever he is, coaching a crap team can take a huge toll obviously.

Most everybody in the organization want Murray behind the bench. I said that earlier.

I agree with you tho' SpezDispenser, Murray has too much on his plate already.

Just ride this wave to shore. There is a high draft pick and cap space waiting for us on the beach.

No more loser points and let's ride this in. The loss of Kovalev and Leclaire means more to me personally than anything else. Truly the definition of addition by subtraction - the bonus being the massive cap space saved. Can't wait until they're gone.

Also, good on Murray for not caving in to the pressure from Melnyk and some of the players to go behind the bench.

It's one thing to talk about things and to have disagreements. It's another when posters on a fan forum think they're so much smarter than a guy like Bryan Murray -- who has about 30 years experience as an NHL coach and 20 years experience as an NHL GM.

Let's get a little perspective, is all I'm saying.

You and me both.

Kovalev has been good for the team; but two years at that price is long enough. Thanks for being so helpful with the young guys.

I don't think he's done a poor job personally, but times have changed a lot. There are young, sharp minds out there, Yzerman, Anothopolis from the Jays. The old guard needs to step aside from time to time to allow a fresh perspective, and as much as I like Murray, this easily applies to this franchise.

True but, most of what I'm seeing is people judging him on the team lack of success which usually falls to the GM and or coach. I haven't seen much of people saying If I was him I would have done this that and the next thing so much differently and we'd be way better off. Am I missing something? I'm also seeing him being defended and to me arguments have been made on both sides and with reasonable arguments for the most part.
