Lombardi always loses out on the big deals kovalev sounds like a plan B to me(well more like a plan E really, but you know what i'm saying.)

Phillips should snag us a first and prospect with the need for D men and the availability of D being pretty limited. Vancouver has been hit hard with injuries on the back end as has San Jose. I see Phillips' value steadily going up. The big question now is will he waive his NTC?

The nice thing is that Phillips is NOT particularly injury prone so there's not a lot of risk in waiting to trade him until the last minute ...

As we approach the February 28th deadline, three 1st round picks have been moved, and that's not including LA, Atlanta, Phoenix, and quite possibly Detroit's 1st rounders.

What am I missing? We got Nashville's first (1), Toronto got Philly's first (2), what's the third first rounder that moved? Is he counting Toronto's first to Boston in the Kessel trade?

I think the possible reasoning behind this is that SJ is saying you want our 1st round pick then you have to take Seto. Well Ottawa should say.. if you want Phillips -- you also take Kuba. But if they have to unload salary they will not do that.
