We need speed, youth and enthusiasm on this team. That - and a legitimate #1 goalie. Doesn't have to be a vet - we need our own Bobrowsi.
We need someone that will not fade after 10 games. Someone that will steal games for us and not lay a turd in the third.
Not THE Phillips, Sens future "C". Never happen. Wink
We should declare a moratorium on Phillips talk until it either happens or doesn't happen. Then we can let it fly...

The talk about holding onto relics for the future is akin to a pack rat cleaning out the garage. Sometimes you don't want to throw away that bag of screws you know you'll probably eventually need. But sometimes you need to do it so the garage looks good.

You're probably right. To be honest I'd be happy if he re-signed at less than his current salary and I'd also be happy if he got us a nice return in a trade whether he made his way back to Ottawa next season or not.

I agree with you about the goalie, but Bobrovsky isn't really a legit #1 either. Boucher is playing a lot.

A #1 goalie would definately help keep us in the game when the team decides to have an awful period.

Especially the patented 3rd period meltdown.

The goalie market is flooded with #1's. I'm confident we will have a new #1 goaltender next year (that's not even a bold prediction or a stretch of any kind).

I don't mean Bobrovsky himself, just someone of that ilk. Why is it everyone else seems to get these newbie sensational goalies?

check out post game Foligno & Phillips

I don't want THAT Phillips mentoring anyone.....

Foligno gets it.

Probably because they have more than 3 goalies in their farm system (actually 2 snice Brust isn't even Sens property). Facepalm

It's actually sad how few goalies we have.

Did anyone even notice that the Leafs picked up Fabian Brunsstrom? Except SSF of course.

No I noticed, they wanted him back when Dallas was able to sign him. Of course he looks like a flop now but Toronto is desperate enough to try anything.

Burke will have a dozen eggs on his face if they give Boston another lottery pick.

Kind of the end of a dream really.

If Murray calls a formal press conference to announce that the Senators have thrown their hat into the Brandon Yip derby my faith will be restored.

I agree.

And a new top line winger - maybe even two.

That may be a stretch because there is maybe 1 whole top line winger in the UFA market. I really hope we sit on cap space if all we can get is a glorified 3rd liner.

Matt Moulson is an interesting name to me, but who knows how he would react in a market like Ottawa. Being one of the only UFA's to reach 30 goals he is also sure to get paid handsomely.

I'm sad we free up all this money during a down year, but it may be best long term.

Moulson intrigues me as well. I'm only familiar with his numbers not his play so much.

I'm thinking he'll want to stay with Tavares who got him the job so to speak. Then again Cheapskate Wang probably won't pay much.

I'd imagine anyone on the Islanders would want to bail out if they have a chance, I can't imagine playing in such an environment.

I don't think you can get the whole article, but here is a snippet.

Obviously he wouldn't trash the organisation and say he wouldn't want to return, so take it with a grain of salt.
