See the Pouliot-Latendresse deal.

I think one reason so many GMs are inquiring is because they know he is struggling and are hoping to buy low. Ottawa would be foolish to sell him while his stock is low, unless the deal is fair.

That is definitely the ideal. Anyone have ideas of who that could be in the context of a Foligno trade?

We'd still have to move salary though to accommodate Langenbrunner + you still have to make it worth while for Jersey. It's probably pretty tricky for us to do.

Why make a trade for the sake of making a trade. I have more confidence that Foligno will improve than I would in someone else's project.

Nope. You're mistaking a thought exercise for a suggestion. I'm responding to the chatter about BM possibly moving Foligno by asking what people think would be a fair (or likely) trade. The question isn't "should Murray trade Foligno?" it is "what would be fair compensation for Foligno?".

I would assume the chatter is from the Hot Stove last night. It was said that Murray has been called by a number of GMs about Foligno not that Murray was looking to move him.

To answer your question, if I am the other GM, I might offer a minor league D man who projects as a 5-6 maybe.

And if were BM, I would counter that offer with a fit of hysterical laughter. Sarcasm

Ya, that's definitely not going to do it.

I wonder if he'd be a good fit in Edmonton

What they said was: BM has called all the other 29 teams offering Lee - no takers, although some interest in Foligno.

Spector is a Negative Nancy most of the time. But he's probably right.

You could cut and paste this statement daily and it will always be true.

When has Spector said anything different? Laugh1

Not that he's Eklund-esque since I'm sure he's at least semi connected but 95% of the time Spector is just killing trade rumours.

With the low number of trades that actually happen in the NHL today it's "safe" to say that nothing will happen.

Are you 100% sure about Penner? That's a lot of loot for a guy who's not very fast and can be ultra-streaky as a goal scorer. I'd rather wait and check the options in the off-season or see what teams are dumping when they realize they're too close to the cap.

For example - and I'm not saying we should get him - Lecavalier won't be a Lightning past this season IMO. Not with Stamkos coming up etc. etc. But he's declined so much, the Lightning probably won't be able to move him with his salary.

Still there will be opportunities aplenty - even with the cap going up 3.5-4 million.

I think Ottawa will start a self-imposed "cap" if that happens. Mind you, with some pretty significant salaries leaving, I still see us adding ONE big ticket in the off-season.
