My 2cents is to waive him or clear his salary and replace him with Bobby Butler. Then give Bobby B 20 games with Jason Spezza to see what he can do. Not 1 game, not 5 games, not 7:17 on a 4th line with Winchester and Foligno, top line with Spezza, top line PP. Let's see what we have here, what's the worst that could happen, we don't score? Been there, doing it now.

there's no need to waive him. right now i'm sure BM hasn't gotten what he'd want for him, not sure what that is. lee won't be here at the end of the season.

I think it made total sense to waive him and pick up O'Sullivan (who is ppg right now with Minnesota...2 games 2 points Sarcasm ). You'd basically be trading Lee for O'Sullivan, which any of us would do. Obviously Murray and his pro scouts saw or know something about him that they don't like.

I just don't think you can waive him...he's still got value. Every great GM knows that their team and their system can turn a players career around! Sarcasm

I'm on board with this. It's clear by now, no one wants Lee, and we're wasting his time and our time by having him in the pressbox for all of these games. Run the risk of having him plucked off waivers/get his salary off the cap and give Butler an honest chance. Nothing to lose.

I still think he has value, but I've said before I think Murray is trying to get someone to overpay. I'm not sure what an overpayment for Lee is right now, a 3rd I guess. Cuss it, I'm not sure what he's waiting for.

You may laugh at POS, but there were a lot of people who thought he was a risk worth taking. Carolina hardly played him at all, that's the issue I don't want to have with Butler. I want to see the Sens call him up and play him big minutes, not muddle him around on the 4th line.

Or worse, have injuries where Lee would actually help and not be able to call him back up for risk of another team claiming him. That would be another player/coach we're paying to play/coach for someone else. Melnyk would flip.

Haha, I wasn't going to mention that O'Sullivan got another point. All that stuff was me just wanted to spike the offence with little risk on the Senators part.

Maybe John Muckler can get a job as a GM somewhere and trade us the 9th overall pick for Lee?

People all over teh interweb are commenting on the possibility that BM may trade Foligno at some point in the very near future. By many accounts, he's a player about whom many teams' GMs are inquiring.

Question is, what would you consider fair compensation in the event that Foligno gets moved?

Well, he is a first round draft pick, albeit late. I would say a fair trade would be for a similar type player, about the same age, who is struggling on their own team and from which a change of scenery would benefit.

See the Pouliot-Latendresse deal.

I think one reason so many GMs are inquiring is because they know he is struggling and are hoping to buy low. Ottawa would be foolish to sell him while his stock is low, unless the deal is fair.

Yeah, don't sell him low!

The other possibility would be trading for a pick and/or prospect. Does Ottawa want to move him for a replacement body or to make room for someone like Smith/Butler? Then an AHL player thrown in for Bingo to replace the body called up.

I guess it all goes back to the pick and player coming back. If it's a 2nd and someone decent who might have an upside in a few years, then maybe.

Should we inquire about Langenbrunner? There's a strong voice in the locker room, a good leader apparently and can bulge the twine. If we could get him on a bit of a cheap price, that would be very interesting. Lee and Foligno for Langenbrunner? Problem is: would people loathe that move here? We give up a young buck with potential when we should be hoarding them?

Langenbrunner is a guy I like a lot and who I could see on this team, but I don't think you trade anything substantial for him. I would not move Foligno for him, no. Lee+, sure.

That is definitely the ideal. Anyone have ideas of who that could be in the context of a Foligno trade?

We'd still have to move salary though to accommodate Langenbrunner + you still have to make it worth while for Jersey. It's probably pretty tricky for us to do.

Why make a trade for the sake of making a trade. I have more confidence that Foligno will improve than I would in someone else's project.
