Really? That was Kaleta again? Let's see if anything happens.

Nothing should happen. Winchester should know better than to stretch himself out while cruising through the neutral zone unaware of his opponents around him.

And with the win the Sens are no-longer in last place. That distinction belongs to the Edmonton Oilers. Really? It seems only yesterday they were undefeated at 2-0; now they've lost three straight and

Kaleta made it really clear tha he was trying to take his head off with a flying elbow, though.

The hit is not that easy to call. Obviously if you are a Sens fan you are thinking it is a "dirty" hit, in the sense it was "blind-sided. In reality, it is more like the Foligno hit on the Carolina player, which got no penalty but Foligno got fined $2'500.

Winchester was fighting for the loose puck and possession changed hands a few times. He ended up getting it and was not looking ahead, but rather down and Kaleta hit him from the front. Winchester just didn't see it (head was down). Kaleta's arm was tucked down and in, but I think it was his elbow or upper-arm/shoulder that did the most contact.

Winchester was vulnerable, but it was a hockey hit. Kaleta is a reputation player known for his hits, but in this situation I think Winchester has to protect himself.

And just like that, if the Sens win Saturday night, and Philly (Toronto), NYR (Boston), Atlanta (Washington) and Carolina (Phoenix) lose (the last two in regulation) they will find themselves in a playoff position.

You know what that means, right? It's *early* in the season.

Agreed with PKC. SSF, there was no flying elbow. And yeah, he was trying to hit him with intent to send a message. If you're going to make an open ice hit, yeah, make it count. We'd expect the same from Neil, or anyone else. It's the same or even not as bad as Foligno's hit on Dwyer.

Kaletas arm went flying on the follow through after he smoked Winchester in the head with his elbow. It counted alright.

Yes, he absolutely should.

But if there was an elbow delivered to a payer 's head in a vulnerable position -- a hit he did not see coming -- then the league has made a rule, not too long ago, that the Players' Union endorsed, which says "Nuh-huh, don't do that."

So, like I said, let's see.

I'd also like to hear what Miller has to say about it.

Facepalm

Clean hit, no argument.

Prager, from the replays I saw, and rewinding it over and over, there was no elbow. Kaleta's arm was down the entire time during the hit.

He's not a #1, he's just our #1 right now. He would be a backup on a lot of teams.

and yeah, I don't mind that hit. Might have been a "blindside" hit, but he didn't lead with an elbow and he didn't hit him in the head.

LOL, exactly. Big difference between legit #1 league wide and being a #1 by default. Like saying that Bozak is a #1 C.

Look again. Shoulder to the head, then arm comes up in the follow through. I can recommend a good optometrist, though.
