I think you're reading far too much in to these games.

Agreed...people need to relax lol. Although we still should have picked Paajarvi.

I'm pretty sure Cowen was expected to be NHL calibre this season coming out of the summer 3 - on - 3 camp or whatever it was so I'm not surprised that so much stock is being put into this tournament.

While the structure isn't there, you can still start to see things that aren't ready yet in certain players. Again, main training camp/pre-season will be more of an indicator.

Yes and no. There were instances where I felt Cowen lost one-on-one battles that he should have won, and I found he was out of position quite a bit. I realize that it's the rookies' first times playing together but it's the same for every team. I really don't think Cowen will be ready to play in the NHL this year.

However, I think Butler might be. I don't know how you'd fit him in. He's too good for a 4th line role. We still have yet to see Wick though, and I just don't see how we could fit both Smith and Butler on this team.

I wish he could play in the AHL though.

Cowen and Lehner both need to go back to junior.

Its' tough to imagine anyone taking the next step unless they DOMINATE in this tournament. So far, only Butler and Hoffman have done that.

Ideally, Cowen would play in the AHL but that's not an option. Nor should the NHL be an option in his case.

I cant wait! i've got tickets in MTL for the game on the 24rth. i've never been to any pre-season games before so it's a new thing for me. i expect us to win since many of montreal's rookies aren't that good. i'm looking forward to seeing Hoffman, wick and butler play. i imagine wick will be there right?

For sure Wick will be there. Not sure if he would dress for every game though, but he'll be with the team. The fight between him and Butler to claim a goal scoring spot will be immense.

Lehner can adjust to the AHL IMO.

Sorry, I don't check in as often as I used to...

Yep, we're at all three...the first one was sort of awkward the guys played like they were all one step behind another. Second 1/2 of the second game was great to see. Hoping they can carry it over to tomorrow game.

To answer the other post, nope didn't grow up here. I started a business that eventually found it's way to London (well part of it did). I don't frequent that office very much any more, luckily I don't have to I can let the people I've hired do what they do best.

Looking forward to heading home for a brief visit before heading out west to Tacoma...

There's the Luke Schenn NHL calibre and then there's the Tyler Myers NHL calibre...both can survive in the league, but the other one will have a bigger impact.

Cowen is definitely more of a Luke Schenn, IMO...which is not a bad thing though.

He is now, but one more year of Junior can make him a Myers next year^^.
But the point is, this year or next year, he is NHL calibre.

Apparently www.mapleleafs.com will be streaming the game an hour after it starts, so at 8pm.

PS: I feel dirty for typing that.

After seeing him at the practice and the two games, I think we need him in Bingo to see what we've got.

Did he not play in Bongo last year? I thought he's been there for the past 2 years or so...

he did play. and he was awful...hopefully he has a good year this time around. If not trade bait, at least it'll be nice to put a bit of pressure on Mike Fisher.
