Rookie practice today

If any of you are near the SensPlex today at 1:30 pop in as the rookies will be there getting ready and practising. I was given this tidbit and wanted to pass it along.

Apparently Cowen is coming along real nicely and looks massive.

He apparently wants to make a serious run at the Ottawa roster for this season too rather than go back to junior.

It would create a logjam for sure, but that's not necessarily a bad thing imo.

You always have great information but I don't see Cowen name on the Rookie roster. Is he a late addition?

Without the injury I would have said he might have a shot, but seeing him earlier at the development camp - he can't really keep up yet. He's is friggin massive though, Holy toledo.

Without his injury he'd be easily a top-4 defenceman in the league this coming season, but he also wouldn't be an Ottawa Senator.

Yeah, chances are he would have been snapped up a lot sooner.

A consensus top-3 pick after that Memorial Cup performance.

Had he stayed healthy, maybe Duchene would have overtaken him, and perhaps Atlanta would have still gone with Kane, but I guarantee he wouldn't have fallen past LA or Phoenix.

LA would have still taken Schenn, but Phoenix takes Cowen easily.

So, how'd the practice go? Anyone in attendance who can provide us with an update?

Excellent! Thanks, Mark. The news on the Karlsson and Smith fronts sounds very promising indeed.
