This is cool. A female Olympic Gold Medalist tends the net for the Habs in practice after Carey Price missed his 2nd practice with a flu.

They might want to call up one of their young guys from the minors and give them a bit of experience.

They can't. They expect Hamilton to be extremely competitive.

Plus...you know who their AHL goalie is?

If you guess Marc Denis (former Lightning goalie), you're right.

Maybe we should sign her. That would be interesting and she'd probably be awesome.

That's cool that she filled in. She sounds like she had a great time.

Really? Is he any good? I can't remember...probably not.

We're not ready for more experiments just yet. Besides we have Gerber, right? :x

They should call up denis, make him the full time back up and trade Halak to ... you guessed it, The Ottawa Senators for say ... Nikulin, and our 2nd RP next year.

Okay, let me rephrase:

He's a lot worse than Gerber.

Don't lift the lid off that pot - we could have had Halak, or at least screwed Montreal over in the process. Either way, the Sens, and a lot of teams for that matter, did not play the game correctly.

Halak was a RFA and was unsigned and open to offer sheets, and yet he was re-signed for two years @ $775,000. All Ottawa (or any other team that needed some help) had to do was make an offer of >$1,307,812 or >$2,615,625 and either gotten a decent goalie for either a 3rd round or 2nd round pick (respectively), or if Montreal had matched, they would have had anywhere from $500,000 - $1.8 million less cap space to work with. It's all strategy - you either get a decent goalie or handcuff your rivals.

It was dumb to not make an offer.
