Also, although Wiercioch did not have a good game, he looks really comfortable handling the puck, and is a really nice skater.

Culek had a couple of nice plays, but is still pretty damn far from NHL ready. But that's alright with me.
Schira really rubbed me the wrong way that game. How can a Puck Moving Dman who is still pretty small, be so slow. He's afraid to hit. He also made some poor decisions. He had a good first shift, and then went downhill from there.
Condra is another one. He made some stupid mistakes, one that lead to a goal. This guy is supposed to be defensive minded too! He did seem to be in the right places in the offensive zone, but just could not capitalize on anything.
Szydlowski seemed to be all over the place. Constantly with the puck on his stick. Although I could not tell if he was playing well, or he's just a keener who doesn't pass... Game 2 will be important for him.
I thought Kaspars Daugavins was pretty solid. He's not going to be a 1st liner in the NHL, but could be a solid 2b liner. Has a decent shot, very shifty little player. And does go into the dirty zones. I was impressed with his call-up last year, and with his game yesterday. Not bad for a kid who did not impress in his first year in bingo, thus was sent back to junior 20 games in. Hope he brings more this game though.

Agreed pretty much. I think Culek might have an even better game today, his confidence appeared to keep going up and he was physical and great in the faceoff dot.
Daugavins frustrated me in that I thought he should have been a lot better for a 20 goal pro, today is a HUGE day for him. He should be scoring at will.
Wiercioch should be moved to forward - and I'm not even kidding. 3 assists, but was all over the place. We'll see...
Bass Destruction wrote:Wiercioch at forward is interesting definitely.
Thing with yesterday is Thiessen had a good game. He's a solid goalie, 24 year old well developed who put up some solid numbers in Wilkes Barre/Scranton last year.
But I agree, it is a big day for Daugavins. I wouldn't say he's NHL ready by any stretch, still needs at least another year in the AHL. He really turned his AHL season around last year after his callup to the Sens. In 35 games after the call up he posted 10 goals and 15 assists. He did get a couple nice chances in the final minute. And I really like his competition level and somewhat fearlessness.
Today should be exciting.

Sens 7, Hawks 3...and Rogers is showing it right now I believe as they were showing the live 67's game instead at 2:00.

Hoffman was invisible for almost 2 full periods tonight. He scored a nice goal, granted, but he has been underwhelming overall. His lack of hustle on that empty netter in game 1 was particularly uninspiring.

I noticed Hoffman a lot in both games. This is a guy that the puck follows, he's a true sniper. He got stoned by the Pens guy in game one at least twice and tonight he had been stoned at least once before scoring. When the chips are down it's Hoffman and Butler who have provided the most amount of scoring threat.
Obviously this is all just my opinion, but I've liked them. Desperately need to see them in a main training camp preseason to see if they can play at that level as well.
