OK, so, looking at the FA D crop, which guy(s) fit(s) best in OTT after Michalek (who seems like as close as a perfect match as possible)? That is, who, besides Michalek, can play top 4 and is right-handed / can play the right side?:

Martin
Gonchar
Hamhuis
Kubina
Foster
Mitchell
Lydman
Tallinder

To tell you the truth, I didn't mind Big Ev's idea of either Lydman or
Tallinder as a worst case scenario. Obviously a big name would be great, but if the consolation prize is a reasonable contract for one of those two guys I think the Sens are a better team.

Who can play the right side, tho'? It's a crucial point. We've got two lefties in our top 4 right now (Phillips and Kuba), and one righty (Karlsson). We need a righty, or a lefty who can play the right side (like Volchenkov), for this team's top 4, ASAP.

Does anyone remember when Big Rig and Chara played together? Phillips must have played the right side, I'm sure Chara was on the left side.

I could have told you what hand they were, it's who's left handed that can play the right side that'll be tricky to figure out.

Or they just bite the bullet and move to the right and we hope for the best.

I seem to remember it was Chara on the right side with Phillips on the left. Memories are vague, so I may be remembering incorrectly.

Hmmmm I didn't read your post close enough the first time and figured those were the rightside guys. But if they were a tandem then yes, one can play the right side.

That being said, I would much rather have a righty playing right side. It seems to be a small advantage that can make a difference over the course of a season.
