that would be cool(in a package) but i doubt lucic is heading anywhere.

i could see how boston would love ending up with regehr, and the flames with spezza. but what does that leave us? savard? ian white? toronto's 1st?

as much as i like the idea of having toronto's 1st round pick i'd rather not have this deal. now a massive overpayment of wheeler, savard, giordano, toronto's 1st and calgary's 1st would be interesting.... fleeeeecceeeeeee we give em lee and ligno

i don't like that deal. we could get savard for cheap and then trade spezza to the oil for a better package.

I don't like it either, but I don't see Edmonton giving up any of their young guys. They're in full rebuild mode, they're not gonna take on a $7M/yr NTC contract.

Calgary is more desperate to get a #1 centre for Iggy before he and Kiiprusoff get old.

I'd see Calgary dealing before the Oilers.

Edmonton could deal with Boston, straight. Savard and Thomas for cap space.

Savard has 5 years on Spezza. Give 1 good reason anyone other than an absolute SC contender would anchor themselves with Thomas' contract.

It doesn't look like much of a rumor though. No names, an enigmatic 'team out west' and the lone contact 'backpeddling' when being probed for confirmation.
