i'm quite happy to be keeping spezza, i just wish that we could be adding savard if cullen is walking away.

I don't want to keep him. The writing is on the wall. The fact that he's outright stated his unhappiness in Ottawa (with concerns to the booing), seems to me to be a real warning flag.

Where there's smoke, there's fire, and I fear this could disintegrate into another Heatley situation.

i don't think heatley and spezza have the same character. spezza has been on the receving end of criticism for years now, without much complaining. and if he was like heatley he would of waited till after july 1st to ask for a trade.
i think he'll honour up and play till A:we trade him in a good deal. or B: play his 5 years.

it's not also impossible that he grows some and becomes the player we all wish he could be.

Just got a text suggesting something could be going down with Spezza.

I'm digging around for confirmation.

Don't see anyone offering Murray enough to move Spezza. I think Murray would move him, but not for a boatload of crap.

Ek (hack hack) has posted a rumor of Spezza and Volchie to NYR for Dubinsky and Staal.

Won't happen. Not unless the Rangers get Staal signed to a reasonable contract before midnight. He's an RFA and will get big bucks on the open market.

Edit

If Murray knew he could sign one or two big Free Agents (ie he's already has whispers they would come) then that move would clear about 14 Million in cap room (I assumed Staal get's 2 million a year but that can be increased).

Ugh....Is there even anyone out there worth while to pick up in the Forward position?

EDIT AGAIN

Hmm...could we get that Jerk Wilson in San Jose back for making us take Cheechoo, but offering Setoguchi to a contract worth 3.5 million? That would leave them about 5 million for 2 forwards, 1 dman and a starting goalie.

All it takes for Murray and the Sens to be hooped is for Jason Spezza to decide he wants to play elsewhere sometime after the next 6 or so hours have passed.

The minute he controls his fate, we could be in serious trouble. I don't give a damn about his character. He's seen his buddy have his cake and eat it too...what's to stop him from doing the same?

i'm not saying it's impossible.

but after him having said he'd come back next year, and then if he'd say trade me or else i won't play. there would be 0 takers for him. what heatley did was low, what you're suggesting is far bellow that. gates of hell kind of low.

Now they're talking about 3-way between us, bruins and calgary on HFboards.

no secret Flames need a #1 centre.

I see that point. Let's just say hypothetically he does want out, right now. It's clear that any trade demand isn't going to be made public (I think it has, but not in so many words), so he can't come out and wants out. Saying he'd come back is the only answer at this point. If he does want out and is keeping quiet about it, how pissed do you think he'd be if Murray didn't/couldn't/wouldn't trade him when Murray himself could decide the destination?

Laugh1
that would be cool(in a package) but i doubt lucic is heading anywhere.

i could see how boston would love ending up with regehr, and the flames with spezza. but what does that leave us? savard? ian white? toronto's 1st? Thinking

as much as i like the idea of having toronto's 1st round pick i'd rather not have this deal. now a massive overpayment of wheeler, savard, giordano, toronto's 1st and calgary's 1st would be interesting.... fleeeeecceeeeeee Ahhhhh! Nod we give em lee and ligno

savard and backlund if anonymous HFboard forumgoers are right.

I don't buy but hey we all love to speculate here Laugh1

And Sutter is the most "fleeceable" GM in the NHL right now Nod
