I would rather overpay Michalek than Volchenkov, because make no mistake, if we get either signed, it will be a large overpayment.

Ummm, I dont think Michalek will be an overpayment honestly. I think at first it might look like that but Michalek has the potential to actually put some offensive numebers up and at the end of the day, Michalek could actually end up looking like a 5-5.5 mil D man signed between 3.75 and 4.25 per.

I think 4M is an overpayment for Michalek. Unless it's a 5-6 year deal, then inflation makes it easier to accept.

I don't think Cheechoo taking up a roster spot in Bingo that could be used by one of our prospects is a good move either.

The cap hit sucks but preventing someone like Hoffman from getting a top-6 role down there sucks too.

I think 4 mil for Michalek is about right to be honest, at this point in time anyways.

I don't want to keep him. The writing is on the wall. The fact that he's outright stated his unhappiness in Ottawa (with concerns to the booing), seems to me to be a real warning flag.

Where there's smoke, there's fire, and I fear this could disintegrate into another Heatley situation.
