Columbus sucks at drafting. They shouldn't do it any more.

Why would Washington (or any team, for that matter) give up an asset when they know he's going to sign there. I knew he was going to sign there in Diddling January and I have zero interaction with him or his people.

We all did. That's my point. Why was he not pro-active. If he knew he was going to sign in Washington why not trade him at the deadline? Washington would have likely beat MTL with him.

You obviously just don't get it and hate murray..fine I get it. But why for the love of god would you trade one of your top d-men when you're still fighting for the playoffs. That's a sure fire signal you're giving up....oh and I don't believe Washington had the cap room to take him..again I stand to be corrected.

I got it now..Murray sucks, the team is worse now than we were 3 years ago. All these d-men we are doomed.

I just think he's been too conservative to date. I don't hate him. I just want to see him do something to really set things right with this team. Not just through the draft but through free agency. I guess I was just disappointed with the move not knowing anything about Runblad and seeing what Vancouver shipped off for Ballard. I really hope he has some miracles in him this off-season. g'night guys

That's fair, I see what you're saying. But as for the miracle signings, don't hold your breath. I think we can all agree that it's just not Murray's style and Ottawa doesn't seem to be an extremely desirable destination for free agents.

This was an odd draft, but that was far from the most bizarre event.

Rangers are going to sign McIllrath to a nice 6x$6M deal.

The McIllrath pick was the show stopper IMO. I get the Johanssen draft pick, dont like it, but I get it... NYR has the choice of Gromley, Fowler, and McIllrath, WTF were they thinking? NYR had a potential franchise guy fall into their lap and they screwed THAT up. How does Sather have a job?

I bet they would have taken Burm. I didn't say anything initially, but if you listen to Dorion carefully, he mentions that a player they were sure would play in NA might change their mind. I think everyone is pretty sold on that kid doing what it takes to play in the NHL.

I agree with that, but there was no shot they were taking a guy who is actually headed back to Russian probably right now.

Burmistrov is not going to Russia, Tarasenko is for at least two years, but it's still a good league to develop in.

I just think a team limits their options by immediately saying no to a Russian.

Oh yeah...man the Rangers and Columbus should get together and do the dance of sucking at drafting. I couldn't believe the Rangers did that. And also Phoenix with the goaltender.

I like them taking Johansen more than I like Tampa taking Connolly. And McIlrath to the Rangers...well...wow.

Anaheim was one of the big winners big-time with the Fowler pick, though Etem gives me a bit of an Enver Lisin vibe.

Biggest thing for me was Phoenix landing Gormley. Holy ****. The only way their future blue-line gets any more intelligent is if they land Larsson next season.

All in all, I'm happy with what went down - not as happy as if they had picked Tarasenko, but I definitely get their reasons for not doing so.

Tarasenko may NEVER come to The NHL. Imagine that kid doesnt have a good camp and just expects to make the team, gets cut then says "fuck it, Ill make a ton in Russia". Such a real possibility it isnt worth it.

Rundblad is 100% an NHLer and has dominated in his age, the guy is going to be a solid player along with the rest of Ottawa's D. They build up such a strong group of D along with Swedes it should create a lot of positive energy in Ottawa again along with a place that UFA's will love to come at some point.

Great move by Murray because IMO, they got the BPA.

Thank NYR, they manage to screw up the un-screw up-able... Diddle it, that works. People complain about Murray, haha, WOW, he has nothing on Sather.

...but I still think that was a poor selection by Phoenix- especially when I think they have a couple of picks in the 2nd round and could have moved up to 37th to get him, (at the earliest). I find that frustrating as a fan because it's so out there and then it feels like a wasted pick.
