2010 NHL Draft

Is this the 1st time in sens history not to draft in round 1?

He had 5 points in 6 games at the WJC on a rather unimpressive Swedish team. Can't say I know a whole lot about him, but that stat immediately jumped out at me. WJC success is usually a great indication of NHL potential.

just throwing this out there, but what does this say about Phillips' future? Cowen, Weircioch, Karlsson, and now Rundblad. Plus Gryba in the wings. UFA next season too. I get that eventually he will be replaced, but with the youth movement that is the NHL, you don't want to keep these prospects out of the league too long.

Anyways, Foresberg is the best guy out there in terms of European scouts. Ottawa's blueline is just stupid at this point, utterly stupid.

I like Rundbald, but I don't see the need for him right now. We needed a forward, everybody thought we couldn't pick anyone but a forward, so we trade for a D?

Agreed on the need. Only the cream of the forward crop was gone. They all look alike now.

Good luck to the rest of The East in 3 or 4 years. If somehow that D breaksdown, good luck with Lehner.

I guess they didn't really like any of Etem, Watson, Howden, Bjugstad or Bennett. I'm not a huge fan of any of them either.

Still in shock that Phoenix got Gormley, though. Man...

Maybe I'm just sick of missed opportunities. He blew it with Heatley, and he's going to blow it with Spezza. he blew it by not signing Cammalleri and taking Kovalev instead. Cammalleri tore up the playoff this year. He blew it with Campbell who now has a Stanley Cup. He won't do anything of significance this off-season; he won't sign a d-man now (he'd be dumb to anyway) and he's not going to get Spezza a winger.

Sorry dude but his patch-jobs just aren't working for me. Until he does something big to address the needs of this team I'm not happy.

Why do we NEED a forward? Ottawa just signed Wick, Butler, Greening, and have Hoffman coming into the system. Ottawa might not have the prospect depth, but they have the depth.

Murray wanted Swartz and didnt get him.

That team, be it in Phoenix or timbucktwo, will be a force in 3-4 years. They got the best d-man from last year as well in OEL

I guess I'm the only one enthused by this. Rundblad is good..like top 2 pairing good, and the best part, is he's going to play one more year in Sweden against Men, in probably the 3rd best league in the world. Even better he'll be playing for a member of the Senators Scouting Staff who will ensure his progression follows what we need.

Nashville took Ellis last year even though they have tonnes of D-men. Los Angeles did the same this year. Can't just can't have enough quality d-men.

Plus this just proves what I was saying that from 20 - 60 or 70 the guys are all the same. Rundblad is as good or better than anyone who we could pick now.

That's great and all but where are our goals going to come from? Aging Alfredsson? Disgruntled Spezza? Lazy Kovalev? Under-achieving Foligno? Nashville Fisher?

We're putting a lot of pressure on guys like Regin, Butler, Wick and Hoffman; all who have accomplished next to nothing at the professional level.

Sorry, I'm really disappointed with what murray has done today, the off-season thus far, and the last couple seasons.

montreal trades up
