Haha. So true.
What kind of contract would you offer Cullen?

Regin/Spezza/Michalek
Alfi/Cullen/Kovalev
Neil/Fisher/Kelly
Butler/Winchester/Smith
How ever you want to do it, I think that right there is the lineup for next year. Ruutu and Foligno could very well be on the move, that would get The Sens some draft picks and save The Sens about 2.5 mil on the cap. They may need that space.
keep Ruutu and deal Kovalev.. I'd be happy with that.
N4L wrote:Ruutu still takes a lot of dumb penalties and with Smith, Winchester, Neil, Fisher, Phillips, Carkner, there is a lot of toughness and a ton of pushback.
Ruutu had the best year he will ever have in The NHL and this is probably the guy you should sell high on with his one year left on his contract. He wont be resigned, I'm pretty sure of that and there will be a spot or two for a rookie to make the team up front.
With Smith I think Ruutu becomes a little bit of overkill.

Id Kuba gets traded hes going to Edmonton for Souray because The Sens PP would be close to unstoppable with him. Souray would be a good pick up for The Sens.

Gonchar eh?

The only way would be to let Sutton and Volchenkov walk and trade Foligno (and leave Cheechoo buried in the minors) - and even then it's tough.
If you axe Leclaire and replace him with a 1 million dollar back-up, say Alex Auld ( ), you could totally make Gonchar happen. Problem is, are you bending over to sign a guy when you should be signing Volchenkov? Read; would there be a backlash?

I think it's far more likely that the Sens would be able to move Ruutu over Kovalev.

Maybe Murray is starting his poker game now by saying how good Kovalev is with the kids and how he brought them along. maybe some GM out is looking for that type of player in his last year of a contract.
