I still think they are going to build from within and if that's indeed what they are looking for it will be Wiercoich in which case I agree with SD, Wiercoich will be here.

Jagr and Cervenka to the Sens, I'm calling it right now! Murray speaks about the team, the playoffs etc. - Page 2 95132

Jagr said he would go to Edmonton and honour the deal they offered him if he was going to go back because he was flattered by their offer. But the problem is he has to clear re-entry waivers.

I had never heard of Roman Cervenka until I googled him. His HocketDB profile must be really outdated, says he is 5'7" and 127 lbs Ahhhhh!

Please no, let the guy get at least 15 more pounds and get at least a year in Bingo to get used to it and at least refine his decision making in his own end (sometimes really suspicious).
That's a lot of at least, really.
Murray can't go into training camp "hoping" one of Wiercioch or Cowen (who has a long way to go too) will make the team.
IMO we need a stop gap for a year, a MA Bergeron type who's just there to shoot a bomb on the PP and get the puck out ASAP.

I like the D we have no personally. I think it's one of the better groups in The East even without A Train. There will defently be open spots on both the blueline and up front for guys to make the team which is good and they will be pushed all year to keep those spots. Be it Butler, Weircoich, Gryba, Cowen, Smith, who ever, there will be a ton of internal compition.

Exactly what I was thinking. It sounds like Wiercioch has the inside track over both Gryba and Cowen after those comments. It's exactly like last season when Murray said he needed a PMD and simply promoted Karlsson. Now I'm super stoked to see what this kid can bring after seeing Karlsson progress under Clouston.

I like our D as well. Campoli, should he pick up where he left off, will be fine, Karlsson should be better and a healthy Kuba along with Phillips, Carkner and possibly Wiercioch, makes for a nice mix on the blue line. Assuming Wiercioch is as good as SpezD has been advertising he'll be up on the first unit PP by the end of the season and making wicked offense generating passes out of the zone.

Is there a chance that Silfverberg will be a Sen next year?

Ummm, I dont think so. You are probably looking at least another year. He could be the winger to take over for Kovalev when his contact is up. Perhaps they convince him to play the year in Bingo as he is defently ready but other then that, I dont think he makes it even if he comes over, just no room.

Silfverberg might be the most under the radar prospect The Sens have.

Some quick hits from Murray's interview on CFRA today:

- Murray once again re-iterated that signing Volchenkov is a near impossibility...still talking but money is issue
- on Spezza: Tried to overcompensate when getting booed....pressed extremely hard to make Team Canada
- buying Cheechoo out is an option, Kovalev helped Fisher & Regin improve their games, Kovalev major loss for playoff run
- Weircioch, Cowan, Lehner, Hoffman all could see time in the lineup next season

Lehner and Hoffman are a bit of a surprise. I'm guessing Lehner would be a 1 or 2 game thing or maybe he's expecting the perennial injury to Leclaire? Sarcasm As for Hoffman that would be nice. Perhaps if he excels he gets a call-up?

Exactly, that's why I thought it could be possible.

Is anyone else pissed off about the details of Alfie's injury that have come to light? If it happened before the Olympics... why did he go? I understand he is a warrior and always wants to compete... but it sounds like the Olympics aggravated it and then that affected the Sens in the end.

Perhaps it's just my frustration coming through...

Bah.

I didn't realize it was before the Olympics. I give Alfie a pass though considering all he's played through in the past though.

I think it's important to consider that we had some of our best power-play success without Kuba. Furthermore, Karlsson really flourished in Kuba's absense.

I'll let you all do the math based on my comments.

Yes, very frustrated. Want to say that he thought it was nothing more than a minor injury that he thought would remedy itself in time.

That's twice that the Olympics have robbed us of a chance to move on in the layoffs. Once when Hasek went down and it cost us the Cup and now with Alfie and Kuba being injured which cost us a potential 1st round upset.
