May be it's time to put some western hockey video in the dressing room. Gotta add some desperation out there.

a healthy michalek for 82 games next year plus a healthy everyone could put us in the top 4 teams. it was a bad year for injuries if you ask me, i'm surprised we did as well as we did counting those. i also think we have to give leclaire another shot next year. with the level of tallent he has, i think he could take us far in the playoffs giving him time before hand to get hot.

Top 3, because we win the North East. And yes, you can quote me on that. GAME 4 - 2010 Stanley Cup GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (2), Tuesday Apr. 20, 2010 - 7:00PM EST. - Page 15 54934

There are a couple of teams in our division getting better. A certain 2nd overall pick and a healthy Savard, healthier Lucic plus the emergence of Rask just might make the Bruins a little better. Montreal may improve, as well, if they trade Price for some size up front and go with Halak the full year. Toronto is another team poised for a rebound.

Point is, the NE was a mess this year, and a mediocre team riding a hot goalie won the Division. Points will be a little harder to come by next year, and I expect it to be a lot closer between the top 3 teams there. Anyone losing gimme games to the Islanders and Thrashers (and others) will probably be kicking themselves at the end of the season.

As much as the Northeast was a mess, 4 out of 5 teams made the playoffs. That's not too shabby.

-I don't think the Leafs will contend next year but they're definitely going to be better.
-Montreal won't improve. They'll have more or less the same team going forward. Gomez contract is going to be their achille's heal.
-Miller is Miller. Buffalo's fate rests on his shoulders.
-Boston. Scary. Hall or Seguin and Rask. The Bruins sure are making some Leaf fans cry. Where's Raycroft now anyway? Where's Pogge? Boston gets Rask, Seguin/Hall, and another first for Raycroft and Kessell. Yikes!
-Atlanta, NYI, and Tampa will all be significantly better next year.

Sens could be in tough for sure

Big Ev wrote:If they didn't give that contract to Spezza, then what? Free agents don't wanna come here, you have to spend the money on home grown talent.

Spezza's contract isn't even that bad.. he's only 26 and has averaged a point a game throughout his career.... and in the playoffs too. He's definitely worth 2M more than Kovalev.

in two years his contract is going to be very reasonable.

Seriously, tell me about it.

Any line-up changes? Cheechoo? Donovan?

Edit: TSN said CC "may elect" to dress Cheechoo, Donovan or both tonight. Who * else* would sit if both play?

Sens could be in tough for sure

Really tough to say IMO. I think they might be better defensivly, but still, who is going to score the goal? Unless they go out and sign a couple guys I dont see them being much better. Kadri isnt anything special IMO and it showed in The OHL playoffs, he was outplayed and outwork by Skinner (I cant tell you how bad I want that kid) and I dont think he will add much to Toronto's lineup next year. Also, Kaberle looks like he is on his way out, who's going to QB that PP? Not Phaneuf, he's the shooter. Their goaltending looks to be alright but we'll see how well either guy does for an extended period of time, they will split time...

All in all, I see them maybe being a little better, no much though, no reason to believe they will. Kessel will be the focus of every team now as well, he wont get that space. The only team I actually see them being better then for sure is Florida, other then that... I dont see who The Leafs are actually better then.

The rest I pretty much agree with, although if Tampa deals St Louis, they are in a lot of trouble. I love Stamkos but St.Louis is the greese that turns the wheel in Tampa, no way Stamkos hits 50 goals without him, prob not even 40. They have shotty defense, everage goaltending, and a couple young guys up front, other then that... not much meat on that bone.

Good morning all. Just thought I'd drop in with my "Ray of Sunshine" report:

This is from the NHL.com preview:

Stat pack: Six times the Senators have lost Game 3 in a series, and all three times they went on to lose the series.

On a more positive note the Sens have a 44.4% rating on the PP so key message? Draw some freakin' penalties.
