We should find out after the morning skate if Volchie is good to go for tonight.

If I was Price I don't sign in Montreal. I would make my position clear, I want to be traded in the summer. This Montreal place is ridiculous - 1000 times worse than it is here - and it's bad here, I don't want to play there.

Yeah, the roster limit is lifted after the trade deadline and runs until the end of pre-season next season.rooneypoo wrote:I'm pretty sure that's correct. I don't get sending Smith to Bingo, either. We've got something 25 guys on our roster currently.

Habs Fan in my office is livid at the treatment Price got. He can't believe how stupid the "fans" are at the Bell Centre. His prediction, those same fans will be asking how come he got dealt and how come he's so good with his new team!

Agreed - although, I would have no trouble trading him and going with Halak, but yeah, I see his point.

The question is, does Ward get a rest tonight?

I wondered the same this morning. No use over-using Ward after a year of injuries and poor play, right?

Regin - Spezza - The Alfie
Michalek - Cullen - Kovalev
Foligno - Fisher - Butler
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil
As we all know what will happen is Fisher on the 2nd line with a revolving door of wingers who can't get it going for some mysterious reason.
I think you can interchange Fisher and Cullen in that scenario and not really slight Cullen or lose that much. That lineup looks fantastic though, what a solid three lines and a killer 4th. As long as Butler gets some opportunity to see if he can snipe a few instead of 'grinding', I'm happy.

I think the best move for his career would be to get as far away from Montreal as possible. They've already messed-up his development as it is and he's not a good fit there. He will be good anywhere else that isn't a Canadian city, IMO. At least to get his career started. Once he's established, he'll probably be able to play anywhere with no problems. Gainey made such a big mistake with him, now they are paying for it. At least they have Halak though, he's solid.

No thanks says Tampa! Tampa Bay has the one-two centers to make them sing for a long, long time. I would not given up Vinny for Price. I would however go hard after Nabokov in the summer. Not that I love Nabokov, but it's a massive upgrade on what they have now - and Mike Smith has been concussed one too many times, he might never regain his form.
What they need is a proven goalie and one or two more veteran D-men instead of the potpourri of guys they have.
