Splitting up Phillips and Volchenkov always seems to lead to disaster for the latter (see Tuesday's game), and I really don't think we ought tot be icing a Karlsson / Lee pairing (maybe that's just me), so that doesn't leave us many options for this evening:

Phillips - Volchenkov
Sutton - Karlsson
Lee - Carkner
Fixed. Sarcasm

It also looks odd that after missing personnel to play on the right side, now we have too many. Karlsson, Lee and Carkner are all right-handed, and Volch has played there since being paired with Phillips.

LOL.

On the RWed thing: Lee will only play as long as Kuba or Campoli is out -- he's back to Bingo to second either returns.

Yeah, I know. It's just one of these odd little line-up quirks that I tend to notice.

Can't wait to see Sutton lay someone out. Personally, Im expecting big things from him in terms of what he brings personally. If being traded to a team that might have a long playoff run in them from a team that had no shot AND having played for expansion teams his entire career, if that doesnt motivate you then nothing will. Sutton will be an absolute beast in Ottawa in his role.

Sutton has been a feared player forever now. The big difference is, in Atlanta, he was dirty and selfish. By most accounts that has changed so we should be in for a treat.

I've heard that. Not as much changed as gotten some excellent coaching from Gordon (I think that's his name) and has really changed his approach. Gordon is a good coach, but Clouston is every bit as good - if not better. We should see an interesting player coming to Ottawa - perhaps a highly underrated one (I hope).

If all works out with him do you think it's a possibility to re-sign him? If so, would he be taking a pay cut or a raise or stay the same?

I still can't get over just how big he is. Wow! I can't wait to see him in action tonight.

It would have to be a pay cut at his age unless we go really deep in the playoffs and he's a major reason.

I think he's a 2.5 million dollar re-sign even if he is a big reason we go deep. Just a hunch. I know a lot of people are thrilled that we may have the privilege of giving Volchenkov upwards of 4 million per season, but if Sutton is even close to being as good, that money should be spent elsewhere (on Regin and Foligno, just to name 2).

If Sutton is 2.5 and quite close to A-Train in terms of being a replacement then I totally agree with you SSF.

We're just guessing right now, but I don't like our cap situation if Volchenkov gets 4 or more. I'm not crazy about the team without Volchenkov either. Tough call. anyone hear about this incident at the last game at SBP where they played Canada's gold medal game highlights during the american national anthem? Seems like HB users are up in arms over it, I'm not too sure what exactly took place.

It was just plain stupid. I think they screwed up. They had this 13-year-old girl with a tremendous voice (and a penchant for overindulging on some notes). She sang the SSB while they showed highlights of Canadian athletes (most Canadian, I think they also showed that cross-country skier who went off trail and broke her ribs, yet still won). They definitely should have played the montage during O Canada.

that's probably the mistake. Was maybe meant for O' Canada. What did they play during that?

EDIT: Apparently Jim Rome mentioned it today on his show about Ottawa

Winchester out, Donovan in. Probably a good move, get some energy in there because they might need it tonight.

Yeah, it's been a while, he defently needs to get in there. Hopefully we can have two hot goalies going into the playoffs. With the huge stretch coming up they are going to need both guys going and playing well.
