TRADE DEADLINE BONANZA!

This is probably the worst trade deadline in league history.

Honestly, BM has done more than I expected, and what the team needed. The Sutton-esque move was coming for sure, one way or the other. Cullen is the gravy.

People who were expecting more lost sight of how well this team came together and played for each other over the last 2 months. They also lost sight of the fact that those big deadline deals almost never pan out, and that it's the Stuart to DET- and Gill to PIT-esque moves that often pay off way more than the huge moves.

People who expected less just plain forgot that we only had 4 NHL defencemen going into the Olympic break. No other excuse. There was no way we weren't getting at least one D.

OTT made precisely the kinds of moves they needed to make. Not even sure we needed to make the Cullen move, TBH, but the depth is great, for now and for the playoffs. The price was a little steep, but given that BM was willing to give those 2nds away, we have to trust that they didn't see anyone they really wanted in the 50-60 pick range. The steep price is also the nature of the game come deadline day deals.

That would mean I care about the mother diddler. He can rot in some American city. Although...if he suddenly added Ottawa to his list, I'd be more receptive. We need that pounding shot from the point so bad.

Toronto got slightly ripped off in the Poni trade to be blunt.

So did St.Louis, not sure what they were thinking there.
