I don't know what he's asking for all I know is what was offered...Ottawa offered what works out to 4 million a year. They have limited it to 4 years and he will sign for 4 million but he wants 6 years not 4.

Oh, for Diddle's sake, 6 years, 3.8 per year, sign, seal and deliver. Give us a tiny discount for the term please A-Train. If not, I could be finagled into making that signing.

That's fine, what the Diddle. Come on Murray.

Not sure I understand. You say you don't know what he's asking for but you know he wants 6 years? Or is it 6 years and more than 4M +? If that's true, GTFO volchie, you're not worth that.

Oh wait, I understood he'll take 4 million, but wants 6 years, which is fine, I'd love to get a tiny discount though, even if it's down to 3.9 million.

If it's 6 years and more than 4 million, hit the bricks A-Train, no where near worth that.

Garrioch says that if Zidlicky doesn't agree to the 4 million per year deal on the table, he'll be deal later today or tomorrow.

You do realize that in 6 years Karlsson and Cowen may be making 5+ Million?

6 years, I would say about 3.5-4, I dont know if you go all the way up to 4 with that length. 4 mil a year though, tough to let him walk at that... if that's the case they are not really that far off and Murray should wait it out, I wouldnt trade him based on what amounts to pennies.

By all accounts the guy wants to stay here but I totally agree with him, if I'm taking less (and he can get 5 mil + on the open market) he should get term. It might bite The Sens in the a$$ in 3 or 4 years if injuries pile up but the fact of the matter is he will be tough to replace at 3.5-4 mil.

Im leaning towards it is worth it... you look at what guys are going for, what they are signing for... A Train would be toug to replace without giving anything up at 4 mil. If they went like 5 years at 4 mil, I would say the same thing I said a bout Neil, "a bit much but probably could have gotten a lot more and he bleeds Red and Black". Loyalty goes both ways.

If it is anything more then 4 mil though I would def say be gone.

I'm a tad nervous about his defensive game personally, but he'd be amazing to watch on the PP, wow, he's so good at that. And he and Kuba appeared to have some chemistry.

I want.

All I know is he turned down the 4 x 4 deal. I don't know what or even if they countered for an amount if he signs for 4 years. I did hear that 4 million would work if they sign him to at least 6 years, but the sens want no part of that.

Well, look at it this way, would you want Jason Smith of the last year in Ottawa at 4 mil? I bet it's a NTC that is holding a lot up becuase those are killing teams right now.

Anyways, 4 mil is about what everyone expected and if he gets 6 years, his price would have to come down a bit. That would still be more garenteed money then 4 years at 4 mil.

They can't meet in the middle and do 5 years, 20 million?

I guess, relatively speaking, 500k is splitting hairs in pro sports. But you have to draw a line in the sand some time. I can even be convinced that Volchenkov deserves 4. But for the Ottawa Senators, it's gotta 3.5.
