Whitney? What are the trade deadline options?

I think it is too early to give up on Barker. Is he really that bad, or is it a product of Chicago? Maybe he needs a change like Phaneuf?

And would it be so bad if taking Barker and Sharp for Volchenkov + Picard got us an extra pick, maybe a 2nd?

And Sharp is a winger, the Hawks site has him as a LW, and both Yahoo and Sportsnet have him as a RW. I know he can be a C, but he's pretty much a winger now, which is where we would want and need him.

Sharp can play any forward position. So if Sharp is such a great PKer, where does that leave Hands of Stone Kelly?

I think Chicago doesn't need Murray's advice to do it by himself

Volchenkov=2.5 (UFA), Picard=.8 (RFA) = > 3.3M ( ~ $4M-$5.3M)

Sharp=3.9, Barker=~3.1(3.083) = <$7M

You're looking at about anywhere from 1.7M-3M more, depending on the outcomes of the Volchenkov and Picard deals. Hell, you could throw Lee in there too and make it a 1st round pick +.

Barker could end up being a 60pt OFD for us, or someone else.

Barker is a PP QB with a great shot, but he is exactly like Picard in his own zone. Take that for what it's worth.

No, I mean like 10 times as good as Picard on the PP. A real QB, not just someone who can blast the puck. I have...not many good things to say about Picard, I don't enjoy his game much. Nor do I enjoy Barker's game - until he's given the time and space on the PP, then he makes things happen.

I say no thanks. He's been given enough chances. If Julien can't get him going then it's not worth the risk.
