After enjoying (?) six power play advantages and firing nothing but blanks, Antoine Vermette scored a shortie in the third to tie it; he then scored a shoot out goal to win it (Vermette and Alfredsson scored on the Sens' first two attempts while Gerber stopped the first two Boston shooters).

That was under Paddock, so, hopefully, going 0-6 on the PP and scoring short-handed in the third is not Clouston's plan for tonight. If we get six PP opportunities we better bury a couple of them.

GO SENS GO!!!

BTW, apparently the last time we beat the Devils was during our 8 game streak in 2007.

We're usually an ideal opponent for NJD because their game is to keep you outside their zone, or at least to the perimeter when you do get in. And the Senators happen to be a team that doesn't want to work to get into the slot and the crease area. The perfect marriage.

I think that's quite unfair to say. The Sens have been crashing the net and banging bodies in the slot for the last little while. The Devils play their system to perfection which is the real reason why it seems teams don't get much in the way of scoring chances.

If anything, I'd say with our defensive renaissance, that the Devils are gonna be hard pressed to generate any offense tonight.

I would say Ottawa is due to beat these guys. With momentum that they have right now along with hard work, they can 100% beat The Devils, gonna be a tight checking affrair though.

The key will be getting the first goal, The Devils on the road are nearly impossible to beat if they have any kind of lead.

I wasn't talking about the last little while, I was talking about the last several years. We've seen some good signs for sure but it'll be tough to convince me that they've changed after years of the same Dung.

I'm especially tired of losing to a Dung NJD team.

No Elias in the lineup certainly gives the checkers fewer targets on which to concentrate their efforts. Play clean (no stupid hooking penalties -- roughing, boarding, charging -- not necessarily all of them -- is fine; if you get 2PIMs, at least make it count). Go hard to the crease, let Brodeur know what "Delivery" is about.

We broke the Thomas curse; time for another one.

Go Sens Go!!!

We don't want him to. I wonder what's being bantered around? 4 million? If so, I'd probably do it, but not for much more than that.

I'm probably in the small minority that doesn't think Volchenkov is worth that much. You just can't pay that much money for a guy who only brings one facet of the game to the table...you just can't. It's cap suicide. I'd honestly rather move Volchenkov for a couple of nice pieces at the deadline as he's exactly the kind of player (style-wise and money) that contending teams are going to be lining up for.

I don't think it's a minority, but count me in, regardless. Then, again, I didn't think Neil was worth more than $1.5M to anyone but Ottawa. And I still think that the Rags/Leafs rumors were just a means to make Ottawa less competitive by overpaying Neil.

Anyhow, I agree on all points. Love what he brings, but it's very one-dimensional (and $2.5M is still a hell of a lot of money).

Pretty different situation. At the time of Kuba and Neil signing, we were a pretty average team. Now that we win games without Volchenkov in the line up (and if we continue to do so), Murray won't overpay.

Yeah, more than anything score first.

More than anything have an extra cup of coffee and what ever you do don't fall asleep. Coffee! Ahhhhh!

Oh I plan to have some java - before the game, in the intermission, everywhere. Just the Devils uniform makes me sleepy. GAME DAY: New Jersey Devils @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Tue. Jan. 26. 2010 - Page 6 642495

I'm actually a little surprised not even one vote for the last option of the poll.

Maybe I'm nit picking here but isn't Winchester still injured? Isn't Leclaire, their Number 1 net minder, out with injury as well???

Go Sens Go and lets get the beers on ice as shabbs would say.

Seriously though this game worries me. It's tough to win 7 in a row even if you're an elite team.

I think we win this. Why? Power play.

It's mindboggling that Clouston is playing Cheechoo, IMO. If he were to sit for a couple of games, maybe, just maybe, the guy could straighten his game out. The Sens FINALLY have the depth!

You mean you don't appreciate his work ethic and his uncanny ability to hit the post or cross bar? Sarcasm

He's actually gotten better by the game (really small margins, but still...). I've been mighty impressed with him during this winning streak.
