GAME DAY: New Jersey Devils @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Tue. Jan. 26. 2010

New jersey Devils (34-15-1 - 1st in the Atlantic and 2nd in the Conference) come to Ottawa (28-21-4 -2nd in the North East and 5th in the Conference) Tuesday night. Ottawa is riding high on a 6 game winning streak while the Devils are hanging in strong while missing some key players to injury. The way the Sens have won their last two games they certainly can't hang their hat on their record and think they're now the Beasts of the East. They nearly threw the St. Louis game away and scrapped out a 2-1 win vs. the struggling Boston Bruins. All that to say the Sens better be at their best if they hope to win this one. It may not be entertaining hockey but the Sens need to beat the Devils at their own game.

Elliott's numbers have been nothing short of outstanding during this win streak and they will need to stay that way if they want to extend this streak on Tuesday night.

I wouldn't read too much into practice lines.

The observation I have is that the team seems to be really fixated "replacing" Heatley with Michalek. I don't think it would hurt to have him on the 2nd line and Foligno on the 1st.

I'm still not quite sold on the idea of Foligno as top-6, I'd prefer the FFS line being reunited.

And yeah, by the end of the 1st, CC will have juggled those lines.

I was just thinking that. I agree, the FFS line seems a slam dunk. And if not the FFS line, then Shannon and Kovalev and Regin must be kept together.

Perhaps Foligno is being showcased a bit?

I think Foligno has looked quite good with Alfie and Fisher and has set up some nice goals.

My comment is less about Foligno and more about Michalek. I'm not convinced he's at his best with Spezza/The Alfie.

Michalek looked good at the start of the season putting up a lot of goals early. Who were his linemates then? That's what I'd be looking at personally. I think that may be why Clouston re-united Michalek with Spezza and Cheechoo. Especially now with the other lines producing it gives the team the luxury of experimenting a little.

Team 1200 is saying that they're expecting Brian Elliott to be named 1st star of the week. Alfie better be there somewhere too

I guess I'm over-analysing. Sure, I saw the same thing you did, but I just got the feeling those were really individual goals. Not necesarily a result of the line he was on.

I'm just curious to see if he can add another dimension with different linemates.
