Or maybe Alfie is so good he needs 20 points in a week to be in the list GAME DAY: New Jersey Devils @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Tue. Jan. 26. 2010 - Page 3 159628

I think it sounds pretty clear that Murray won't overpay to keep Volchie...

Alfie scored the hat trick last Monday, so I thought that shoulda counted towards that week itself. But oh well, its not like Alfie needs it. Happy for Elliott, maybe this will help him out some more.

Oops, sorry, I meant his first game back (goal two assists), which was on Saturday. Take that game out, he's got 4/2/6 in 4 games. Crosby had 3/5/8 points in 3 games. Shift Alfie's return one game forward and he probably gets the 1st star.

Alfie's not even an after thought.

They have an article up on NHL.com and they make mention of other players that are hot and Alfie isn't even one of those.

Even funnier...

further down in the article, they make mention of the Ottawa Senators receiving a huge boost with the return of Jason Spezza...

Hilarious! (not that Spezza is the joke here for those who'd prefer to interpret it that way)

We don't want him to. I wonder what's being bantered around? 4 million? If so, I'd probably do it, but not for much more than that.

I'm probably in the small minority that doesn't think Volchenkov is worth that much. You just can't pay that much money for a guy who only brings one facet of the game to the table...you just can't. It's cap suicide. I'd honestly rather move Volchenkov for a couple of nice pieces at the deadline as he's exactly the kind of player (style-wise and money) that contending teams are going to be lining up for.

I think Volchie is worth slightly overpaying for. Sadly with players like Phaneuf and Komisarek making far more I fear his agent is advising to hold out for the big payout, and A-Train is better than both in my opinion.

Unless A-train really likes Ottawa I fear our chances of keeping him are slim.

You're right. Knowing Murray, he does overpay. I'm guessing this new surge into a playoff berth is going to force him to sigh Volchie for a considerably high price. Otherwise, he was good as gone.

I won't give VOlchenkov more than 3.5, even for 3 years.

When asked by Doug McLean if the offensive part of a defenseman's game is important in these days, then Murray answered: "Absolutely, and we have some options with the young guys coming next year. We would love to sign VOlchie but the cap will h ave to fit our needs..."

Sounds pretty clear to me that he will not try hard if the agent will ask a lot...

Seeing how the Devils are 5-5-0 in their last ten and are without Elias among other key players, do you guys think this will be an easy two points or a trap game?

I'd love for the Sens to make it seven in a row but the streak will end some time right?

Phaneuf has more value than Volchenkov, for his offensive game alone. He can also lay big open ice hits. I wouldn't compare them. If Volchie's agent uses Phaneuf as a comparaison for a raise, I hope he doesn'T compare their career points.

Their first line can score a lot of goals. Our 1st line is not as good, but we have more depth. I guess our secondary scoring will win us the game, or lose it.

Devils are a frustrating team to play against, I don't feel so good about tomorrow's game.

Then again I never thought this team would beat the Bruins with Thomas in net GAME DAY: New Jersey Devils @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Tue. Jan. 26. 2010 - Page 3 270956

True they're not really the same kind of D-man (although I think Phaneuf is overrated somewhat).

Even so I expect A-train and his agent to be asking for more than they deserve. He's going to want a lot and he'll want a long-term contract, knowing his value will be going downhill in the years to come, as his physical style of play starts to take its toll.

The key here will be to stick to the game plan. The Sens can't afford to let up at all or the Devils will burn them. If the Sens can play a nearly flawless game then I see them coming out with the 2 points. Thankfully Elliott has been stellar so even with the odd gaff we should still come out ahead. I see this game being a hybrid of the St. Louis game and the Boston game.

They have this Brodeur guy in nets...he's been tearing it up lately....haven't really heard much about him....hope we can beat him.
