One more bad goal 4-1. Serves you right for staring down Cheechoo when all he was doing was trying to stop a puck that you couldn't.

Eventually we started saying "When they fall out of the playoffs". For me last night was rock bottom, losing 3-0 to a non-playoff team. And afterward Clouston was saying how they played well defensively, and how the guys competed all the way. Maybe he was watching the wrong team.
This ain't rock bottom. We're decimated by significant injuries and are playing with little to no confidence.

We had plenty of nights looking average with Spezza and Alfie et al in the lineup. It's not like we are going from Cup contender to also-ran. No team can compete with these types of injuries, but it's pretty plain to me that we aren't much much more than a one trick pony on offence. If none of a handful of guys aren't scoring, we don't win.
If the cavalry comes back and we're still dogging it like this... then I'll revisit the "rock bottom" declaration. But tonight's game ain't helping. This is gonna be a long road trip... long long long road trip.

Continuity does. And that's pretty offensive.

How do you expect me to know which of my 9300+ posts you are referring to when you don't quote it and don't make any reference to anything I said in it?

And before you call someone a Nazi maybe you should try to find out about their background first. I may have been born in Russia, but that's only half of my heritage.

4-1 loss to the worst team in the league.

Back to back losses to bottom feeders.

Yikes.

2nd goal was the only real bad goal there. 3rd one bounced off whoever, 4th one was a pure goal scorer's goal.

Whatever the bad goals, it's the least of the Sens problems right now. Elite goaltending would probably win some games, but expecting Leclaire and Elliott to be elite is nonsense.

1 goal in 2 games, that's more awful than anything.

Anyways,

Like I said, rock bottom. Let's just see how far back of 8th we are by the time the cavalry arrives. There is little point to even hope for a win.

As for a trade, we can't afford it unless we are trading a significant contract to get some cap room. Kuba, Kelly, Kovalev, Cheechoo (if anyone wants to do us a favor).

Reminds me of a line -- "You're most kind ... in fact, you're every kind."

Man, I feel so out of it. I don't even know who you're talking about. This year's draft or next year's?

You can't expect a goalie to save everything, that's a given. What separates an elite goalie (something Ottawa has not had yet) and your average goalie, is the ability to make the save you should have. Obviously if the goal is scored because there's absolutely no defence helping you out and leaves their check wide open, then the goalie can't get all the blame. Then you get the fluke goals, which will happen to every goalie once or twice in their career - in Ottawa it seems it is every game, sometimes more than once. Then you get the goals that are pure goal scorer's goals where sometimes you cannot expect a great goalie to even make the save but the great ones will often rob the shooter.

What I've noticed is the Sens goalies over-committing to a shot, sliding way out of the crease and slow getting back into position. Laziness. The defence has also been diffuse and lost.

And lastly, not scoring is obviously hurting the team. The goalies would love the team to score and ease the pressure off them.
