Why does the Sens prospect update have Lehner as "currently participating at 2010 WJC"?

http://senators.nhl.com/v2/ext/PDFs/Prospect_Update-100104.pdf

I thought he got cut?

Speaking of prospect updates, how about Colin Greening with 19 points in 14 games in College? The Official 2010 WJC Thread - Page 23 754246

Forward Nazem Kadri, one of the few practising Muslims in the upper reaches of international hockey, refused to shake hands with Swiss forward Nino Niederreiter after the game.

“He said something that I really didn’t enjoy hearing,” said Kadri, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ first-round draft pick last spring, who refused to elaborate.

EDIT: Forgot this Facepalm because it seems everywhere I go, Kadri is in the news for something that would be considered not appropriate. Throat-slitting gesture, questionable hits. This kid is becoming the punk of all punks.

I'll bet he called him a terrorist.. LOL

Could have been something like "Hey "no fly", how's it going?"

Who knows.

That's pretty specific. Do you have inside info? Ahhhhh!

Well that would have been classic -- someone repeats a joke implicitly calling you a terrorist, and you threaten to cut their throat in return.

Can no one tell me why Lehner is listed as participating in the WJC?

Indeed I can tell you:

He's with Sweden at the WJC as their 3rd string goaltender. He practices with them, hangs out with them etc. - and he's told to be ready at all times in case they need him.

He hasn't played in the OHL since Dec. 11th.

Is that a good thing? I hope this leads to him being starter for them next season.

No it is not a good thing IMO. He should be tending goal for the Greyhounds.

Nobody would have the guts to call him No-Fly. But me, of course.

That's what I was thinking, but on the other hand, he's facing better shooters in Sweden's practices than he would be in the OHL.

That's true as well - tons of top tiered talent on that team.

I think overall it's more valuable for him to be in the WJC situation because that's the kind of experience you can't learn unless you go through it.

The technicalities of goaltending which are learned in the minor leagues are for refining your skills. The life lessons of the WJC is for refining yourself.

Petersson, another goal, 4-0. Paajarvi-Svensson does nice leg lift to let pass go through. - Bob McKenzie

I think we'll witness the same play down the road when these two play for the Senators - SeawaySensFan
