The M$ boxes used for IPTV services are "tuner-less". The tuning is done in s/w and they don't have a limit on how many shows you canwatch/record, except that the line only has enough b/w to bring you one HD and one SD channel at a time. They're still working on it; by bonding two phone lines they can double the b/w, but the real solution (IMO) is to use network-based PVRs (shows are stored on network servers) that way your line coming in only limits how many shows you can watch at any single time; record as many as you want since none of them have to get to your house until you watch them.
