Stop it guys, please. Absolute best case scenario for the Sens - Page 4 428331 I take it all back. I didn't mean what I said about Mike never getting 50 points.

He may never win the Hart Trophy but he will always be my own personal Heart Trophy winner. Absolute best case scenario for the Sens - Page 4 301182 Absolute best case scenario for the Sens - Page 4 Herz

Great stuff. Seriously though SSF you were making something out of nothing. A 46 point average per season on an average of ~71 games per season is inflating his numbers when you say 50+ points but it's not a major exajeration. I never said he was a fantastic player or some mythic figure either.

You clearly believe that Fisher's ceiling is below 50 points unless Regin continues to perform magic tricks and makes Fisher perform far better than expected. That is your oppinion.

I personally think that his 48 point season was an indication of his potential to crack 50 points and be a regular 25 plus goal scorer.

I don't think he's the greatest player to ever put on a Sens Jersey and he is without faults. I don't think his contract is by far the best the Sens ever signed and there's no way we should ever consider moving him. As funny as your sarcasm is at times it's bordering on insulting at times when discussing Fisher.

I drank the Kool-Aid too at that time. I recall predicting that he would hit 30, then 35 and maybe stay in that range. I don't think I'm being insulting so much, just realistic.

Besides, my reaction to your statement wasn't so much directed at you as it was to Senators fans, in general.

I thought he could be a 60 point guy with potential to hit 30 goals for sure (I have dropped my view to a potential of 50ish points and 25ish goals) but he's only one season removed from a 47 point season and before that a 48 point season. Most people agree that his 79 game and 47 point season was riddled with injuries that he just played through. Sure it's excuses but the revolving door coaching staff didn't help anyone. If you're going to assume Fisher is no better than a 45ish point guy with 20ish goals then does that mean Alfie and Spezza are also destined for 70ish point season this year as well? I'm willing to give him some rope here. If he can't perform this season, under Clouston, playing the Wing with Regin and Foligno or playing as part of the FFS line then I'll jump on your band wagon. I figured I was being realistic when I said best case scenario for Fisher was a 50+ point season and 25+ goals considering his average over 3 seasons was 22ish goals and 46ish points.

I'm not trying to start any kind of a bandwagon. The best case scenario for me would be to be wrong.

Well if you do and Fisher proves you right I'll be your first passenger. Absolute best case scenario for the Sens - Page 4 88481

I really don't want that to happen. I've had enough disappointment out of Fisher. Maybe my perceived hate is just a result of me putting up "walls".

Dr Phil?

Not sure that's the fairest comparison. Spezza and Alfredsson both had their worst post-lock-out seasons last season in terms of point production and still had 70ish points. 20ish goals and 45 points seems to be more the standard for Fisher than the production floor. For Spezza and Alfredsson the standard is more like 85-90 points, at least.

I think we may be taking a step towards the "best case scenario":

“(A centre’s) down low coverage to me is one of the most tiring parts of the game, so it’s allowed me to save energy for offence,” Fisher said. “To skate a little bit more, up and down, and use my speed, and shoot the puck. Pete’s done a good job of distributing the puck and I’ve been able to capitalize on that. I’m happy playing the wing. It’s worked so far.”

Now we're getting somewhere!

Sweet!

A happy Fisher is a good Fisher.
