Stamkos just scored a ridiculous goal. Off his Donkey, still falling backwards, he swiped the puck out of midair off his back hand. Ridiculous.

Simply awesome. Just insane. That's the goal of the year. Hand out the award and turn off the lights.

It was OK, but goal of the year? He swung his stick in the general direction of where the puck was. Any player would do that. It connected but you wouldn't call it a rocket of a shot. Highlight-reel goal, for sure. Goal of the year? Perhaps for now because it's early. But give out the award now? Not in my opinion.

Remember Vermette's goal? That wasn't even good enough for GOTY.

Anyone catch Stamkos' unbelievable goal last night? Hit the puck out of the air as he was falling down... pretty sweet.

I only heard about it. I also heard that considering him for Team Canada was a debatable proposition. People are funny.

Well, Ryan Smyth is considered to have ended any chances at making the team with the injury he suffered, so Stamkos and others shot increased.

Not really because Hockey Canada has this philosophy that you need pure two-way players for your bottom two lines so that leaves Stamkos out, potentially.

Burke, in London, Ont., watching top draft pick Nazem Kadri on Friday night, is working on at least two trades. He will undoubtedly attempt to make roster moves first, preferring to make a coaching change the last resort.
